{"id":618911,"date":"2026-07-09T22:15:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T22:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/618911\/"},"modified":"2026-07-09T22:15:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T22:15:11","slug":"penguins-sign-tomas-galvas-to-entry-level-contract-pro-hockey-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/618911\/","title":{"rendered":"Penguins Sign Tomas Galvas To Entry-Level Contract \u2013 Pro Hockey Rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pittsburgh Penguins have locked up one of their selections from the 2026 NHL Draft. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/penguins\/status\/2075309128537268697\" rel=\"nofollow\">According to a team announcement<\/a>, the Penguins have signed defenseman <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/738866\/tomas-galvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tomas Galvas<\/a> to a three-year, entry-level contract.<\/p>\n<p>Pittsburgh selected Galvas with the 54th overall pick just a few weeks ago. Although we have yet to see how he will develop, Galvas was considered somewhat of a reach in the second round. Before the draft, Elite Prospects did not rank Galvas in their top-50 of European skaters, and Daily Faceoff <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfaceoff.com\/news\/2026-nhl-draft-rankings-final-top-120-steven-ellis-mckenna-reid-stenberg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ranked<\/a> him as the 82nd-best player available.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, he is now in the Penguins organization and will remain there for the foreseeable future. Galvas, 20, has spent the last three years with the Czech Extraliga\u2019s B\u00edl\u00ed Tyg\u0159i Liberec. This past season, he registered eight goals and 24 points in 32 games with a +16 rating. Although it wasn\u2019t enough to lead the league in scoring among defensemen, Galvas had the most points of any under-20 defenseman by a significant margin.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Galvas had somewhat of a coming-out party at last year\u2019s IIHF World Junior Championship. Helping Czechia to their second Gold Medal Game in the last quarter century, Galvas scored three goals and nine points in seven tournament contests with a +7 rating. Again, it wasn\u2019t good enough to lead the tournament in scoring, but Galvas tied in scoring with top prospects like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/martopo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-07-09_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Porter Martone<\/a> and the recently drafted <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/954359\/viggo-bjorck\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Viggo Bj\u00f6rck<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unless something changes, it\u2019s expected that Galvas will continue with the B\u00edl\u00ed Tyg\u0159i Liberec on loan for the 2026-27 season.
