Crunching the raw numbers, the reality is that Luka Arkko<\/a> and Myles Brosnan will never get to wear a Detroit<\/a> Red Wings jersey in an NHL game.<\/p>\n

Finnish left-winger Arkko was selected 175th overall in the sixth round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Historically, that gives him a 16% chance of making it to the NHL.<\/p>\n

Defenseman Brosnan was chosen 196th overall in the seventh round. That leaves him with an 11% chance of making the show.<\/p>\n

Red Wings assistant director of player development Dan Cleary<\/a> likes the approach he immediately encountered from Arkko.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe right away wanted to come over,\u201d Cleary said. Arkko will play in the OHL this season with the Erie Otters.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s great. I\u2019m super excited. We\u2019re going to be able to see him quite a bit. My first impression of Arkko would be that he\u2019s big, and he\u2019s got pretty decent hands. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe seems like a really nice kid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reports That Red Wings Pick Heading to Moncton<\/p>\n

Harvard commit Brosnan is a right-shot rearguard with high-end offensive skills. He accounted for 51 points in 30 games last season with Dexter Southfield, a New England prep school. <\/p>\n

The senior captain was picked to play in the Chipotle All-American Game<\/a>. He won the John Carlton Memorial Trophy. An award presented by the Boston Bruins, it goes to the outstanding high school senior hockey player in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

There are reports that Brosnan will be playing this season in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats.<\/p>\n

Myles Brosnan, reportedly joining the Moncton Wildcats, joins former teammates Noah Survilas and Rian Chudzinski.<\/p>\n

\u201cMiles, he\u2019s also got an option to go to college or junior, so we might see both those guys here at rookie tournament, which is good,\u201d Cleary said.<\/p>\n

Finnie Gives Hope to Late-Round Picks<\/p>\n

It\u2019s certainly a tougher route for late-round draft picks to make the NHL grade. It is not a cause that is lacking in hope, though. If these kids are searching for a reason to believe, all they need to do is look at Detroit\u2019s 2025-26 rookie of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThem being late picks, you know what, what\u2019s the advice?\u201d Cleary asked. \u201cWell, my advice, first thing would be you should look up Emmitt Finnie\u2019s name. <\/p>\n

Earning Detroit\u2019s top rookie honors last season after scoring 13 goals, Finnie was the 201st overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat kid, when he got drafted, he was right away, \u2018What do I gotta do?’\u201d Cleary said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he sought it out, he was hungry, wanted it, went and did it. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what you gotta do.\u201d<\/p>\n
