The end result: Michael Brandsegg-Nygard<\/a>\u2019s ascension to the top spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n Detroit\u2019s 2024 first-round pick progressed nicely<\/a> during the 2025-26 season, overcoming a demotion to the AHL and finishing the year strong. Brandsegg-Nygard produced 20 goals and 44 points in 60 AHL games, then added eight more points in eight playoff games. He then followed that up with a breakthrough performance at the 2026 World Championship, where he led Norway to a bronze medal and recorded six points in five contests.\u00a0<\/p>\n Brandsegg-Nygard now appears to be NHL-ready and should spend the entirety of the 2026-27 season in Detroit, where he\u2019ll be expected to provide secondary scoring.<\/p>\n In addition to Brandsegg-Nygard (No. 4 in 2025 to No. 1 in 2026), a few other prospects saw their stock rise over the last year as a result of strong performances:<\/p>\n G Michal Postava \u2013 No. 21 to No. 8<\/p>\n LD Larry Keenan \u2013 No. 23 to No. 16<\/p>\n G Trey Augustine \u2013 No. 7 to No. 2<\/p>\n C\/RW Max Plante \u2013 No. 11 to No. 7<\/p>\n RD Anton Johansson \u2013 No. 13 to No. 9<\/p>\n RW Eddie Genborg \u2013 No. 15 to No. 11<\/p>\n Michal Postava shooting up the rankings had more to do with him going from an unknown to a known quantity. He quickly demonstrated that his athleticism and puck-tracking translated to the smaller ice surface and gave Red Wings brass enough confidence in his abilities that they felt comfortable trading Sebastian Cossa.
