The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a contract extension with defenseman Jamie Drysdale. <\/p>\n
Drysdale and the Flyers have settled on a 4 year deal worth $6.5 million annually keeping him in Philadelphia, per Elliotte Friedman. <\/p>\n
The Flyers acquired Drysdale in January of 2024, receiving the defenseman and a 2025 2nd-round pick in exchange for prospect Cutter Gauthier, who requested a trade from the team. <\/p>\n
Drysdale completed his second full season in Philadelphia, matching his career high in points, 32, tying his number from 2021-22 in Anaheim. He did it with a career-high 8 goals and 4 short of his career-high in assists, at 24.<\/p>\n
He struggled with health early on in his career. After playing 70 games in his first full season in Philly, he played 78 games in 2025-26, 3 short of his career high 81, also set in 2021-22. <\/p>\n
Drysdale looked to take massive steps forward in his development in 2025-26. Not only was he one of the Flyers\u2019 best puck-movers during the regular season, but he also took steps in his defending as well. This past season, Drysdale did not show the same player who was considered a defensive liability in the seasons before. <\/p>\n
While the numbers may not show it, Drysdale had a breakout season for the Flyers in 2025-26, seeing his offensive and defensive game come together. Now that a deal has been signed, focus can shift to his offseason training, getting ready to take another step in his development. <\/p>\n
