Both the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers are going to be trying to contend this season, and they have both been aggressive this<\/a> offseason in hopes of pushing for a Stanley Cup. <\/p>\n

The Flyers tried to pull<\/a> off the impossible with a massive offer sheet to Anaheim Ducks\u2019 Leo Carlsson<\/a>, which ended up being matched by the Ducks, but a recent report indicates the Flyers could have a chance at another superstar.<\/p>\n

Former NHLer Todd Fedoruk thinks Connor McDavid<\/a> could be on the table<\/a> for the Flyers, stating that, \u201cThere are rumors that Philadelphia is a place that Connor McDavid wants to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Flyers are in the market for a true star player, and Todd Fedoruk thinks Connor McDavid could be on the table.<\/p>\n

This is purely ridiculous and doesn\u2019t make any sense. <\/p>\n

First, if McDavid was reaching out to teams while under contract, that would raise tampering concerns. Second, while the Flyers have proved they are willing to be aggressive, there is no chance they would even get an opportunity to make McDavid an offer, since it has been made clear that he wants to win a Stanley Cup in Edmonton, nowhere else.<\/p>\n

Oilers Aggressive Offseason Proves Willingness to Win<\/p>\n

The most important thing McDavid considers is winning, and when he signed his two-year extension with the Oilers, it was clear he was trying to help put some pressure on the organization to surround their stars with the right players to help them win a championship. Their aggressive offseason did exactly that, and the 2026-27 season could be McDavid\u2019s best chance at winning his first Stanley Cup since he was drafted in 2015.<\/p>\n

The Oilers finally tried to fix their goaltending issue by acquiring Devon Levi from the Buffalo Sabres, as well as signing Frederik Andersen, who is coming off a Stanley Cup victory with the Carolina Hurricanes. Both of them are joining the Oilers without being on ridiculously high contracts, giving the Oilers some much-needed flexibility.<\/p>\n

It looks as though they will run a three-goalie tandem that includes Andersen, Levi, and Tristan Jarry, which could be the deepest they\u2019ve been between the pipes in a long time.<\/p>\n

On top of that, they cleared Darnell Nurse\u2019s full cap hit and replaced him with Ryan Shea, added Mathieu Joseph as forward depth, and fired Kris Knoblauch, all things that give the Oilers a better chance at winning a championship than last season. <\/p>\n

With everything they did this summer, McDavid playing for any team other than the Oilers makes no sense. When he signed his last extension for just two years, it was clear they had to make some moves to prove they were serious contenders, and that is what they have done. <\/p>\n

The fact they have done exactly what they needed to convince McDavid to remain with the Oilers for the rest of his career makes the idea of him joining the Flyers even more ridiculous, and nothing more than a silly idea that will never come to fruition. <\/p>\n
