The Quinn Hughes conversation took up all the oxygen online yesterday, especially between fans of the New Jersey Devils<\/a> and Minnesota Wild. It started with us, then Bill Guerin spoke on the situation which fanned the flames, and then it got the rest of hockey media talking.<\/p>\n

The fact of the matter is we went from Minnesota guaranteeing a Quinn extension happens with the Wild, to the same people using different language that points to nothing as a guarantee. Whereas the expectation was this would be sorted out by now, it\u2019s become a bit of a conundrum for the Wild.<\/p>\n

Bill Guerin, when asked if he was still confident Quinn Hughes would re-sign:<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m not gonna get too far into it, but I have been talking to his camp all along. These things take time, they are big decisions for players and teams, so it\u2019s a process to work through it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nothing is guaranteed either way. Quinn could stay in Minnesota. However, it feels even more possible now than before that there\u2019s at least a chance he decides otherwise. The longer this drags on, the better for Devils fan hopefuls.<\/p>\n
