Four of Southern Nevada\u2019s most recognizable organizations \u2013 the Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Raiders, UFC, and Aristocrat \u2013 have joined forces to expand access to adaptive physical education for students with special needs through a landmark investment in Operation Adaptive Physical Education (Operation APE), a program of The Ability Center of Southern Nevada.<\/p>\n
The Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Raiders, and UFC have each committed $10,000 to Operation APE, while Aristocrat has made a barrier-breaking donation of a 12-passenger van that will provide transportation for students participating in the program and support The Ability Center\u2019s partner organizations.<\/p>\n
Together, these contributions will expand access to adaptive physical education for students throughout Southern Nevada while eliminating one of the greatest barriers to participation \u2013 transportation.<\/p>\n
Operation APE was launched in 2025 after The Ability Center recognized that many students with disabilities receive little or no meaningful adaptive physical education despite the well-documented physical, mental, and social benefits of regular exercise. The program provides customized adaptive fitness classes designed specifically for students ages 10-18, with certified coaches delivering individualized instruction through a 3:1 student-to-coach ratio.<\/p>\n
Currently serving students from four Clark County School District high schools, Operation APE has become a model for adaptive physical education in Southern Nevada. The addition of the donated transportation vehicle will allow The Ability Center to expand into additional schools that previously lacked the resources to transport students to adaptive fitness programming.<\/p>\n

Their generosity will allow over 150 more students with disabilities to experience the life-changing benefits of fitness, confidence, independence, and inclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Founded in 2021, The Ability Center of Southern Nevada is the first and only adaptive fitness center in Nevada dedicated exclusively to individuals with special needs. The nonprofit provides more than 1,400 adaptive fitness classes each year at no cost to participants and families.<\/p>\n
Through Operation APE, students participate in adaptive fitness stations tailored to their individual abilities while developing strength, balance, coordination, confidence, and healthy lifelong habits. The program has demonstrated improvements in students\u2019 physical health, focus, emotional well-being, confidence, and independence.<\/p>\n
The Ability Center hopes this collaborative investment inspires additional businesses, foundations, and community leaders to support adaptive physical education and ensure every student with special needs has the opportunity to live a healthier, more active life.<\/p>\n
