The sterling silver PWHL Walter Cup has been found after a brief disappearance while in transit to Montreal Victoire forward Dara Greig\u2019s hometown in Alberta. The timing of the disappearance couldn\u2019t have been worse, with its namesake, Mark Walter and his companies coming under federal investigation in recent weeks.<\/p>\n
However, the PWHL and its top award are safe. While the \u2018actual\u2019 Walter Cup was never in danger of disappearing, as it has remained in the hockey hall of fame since the end of the PWHL season. The Victoire\u2019s team cup was the one that went missing in transit. <\/p>\n
The PWHL has the \u2018original\u2019 or actual Walter Cup presented to the league champions upon their final victory, but each team is provided a replica inscribed with team staff and roster names to display. Details have not been released about how or where the cup was found, but the league issued a statement thanking everyone involved in assuring the cup\u2019s safe return.<\/p>\n
The Red Wings meanwhile, appear to be working hard under the surface we can\u2019t see inside Little Caesar\u2019s Arena in their search for their next GM. News has been slow on any progress with candidates, though earlier this week Max Bultman was able to confirm a report from another Red Wings beat writer, Ryan Hana, that the team has interviewed some candidates.<\/p>\n
However, the team has made no official announcement with training camp in just over a month. Whether the team has a new GM on opening night is still yet to be seen.<\/p>\n
