Crosby has made it clear that projecting his career has become more difficult with age, but he made it clear that his retirement is not currently on his mind.According to PuckPedia, Sidney Crosby is currently signed a $17.4 million contract with a cap hit of $8.7 million per season for 2 years, playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He will become a pending unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the upcoming 2026-27 campaign as his contract will expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby<\/a> has reportedly opened up about his NHL future and his future contract plans. The 39-year-old acknowledged that projecting his career has become more difficult with age, as he made it clear that retirement is not currently on his mind.While speaking about his NHL future, Crosby stated, \u201cIt\u2019s just a little bit more difficult, I think, at my age, as far as trying to project where you\u2019re going to be. It\u2019s different. You don\u2019t know where you\u2019re going to be at, kind of year to year, how you feel, and things like that.”Addressing that he is not thinking about any retirement plans now, the NHL star added, “I\u2019d like to continue playing for a number of years. I just don\u2019t know what that number is. And I guess your mind and body tell you that eventually. And right now, I feel pretty good, though.\u201dThe Penguins superstar also revealed that he has not decided whether his next contract will be a multi-year agreement or a series of one-year deals. Meanwhile, Crosby agent, Pat Brisson, will discuss the matter with Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas, but stressed that he is not committed to either approach at this point.\u201cThat\u2019s something Pat\u2019s going to talk to Kyle about,\u201d he said about his agent Pat Brisson. \u201cBut that\u2019s not something that I\u2019m set on either way, to be honest with you,” he further added.Crosby is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 season.
