Chris Kreider wouldn’t feel out of place: the Montreal Canadiens.

His column clearly explains why.

The TVA Sports reporter published a full column detailing the obvious connections between the forward and the Canadiens organization.

“If Chris Kreider joins the Canadiens, he’ll make the team better.

So tell me with a straight face why they should pass on him?”

– Renaud Lavoie

That argument sums up the heart of the debate: regardless of the circumstances surrounding Kreider, adding him would objectively improve the Canadiens’ current lineup.

Chris Kreider’s ties to the Canadiens make Montreal a natural fit before training camp

Remember, his contract was bought out by the Anaheim Ducks, and he is free to sign with the team of his choice.

Kreider knows Martin St-Louis, Jeff Gorton and therapist Jim Ramsay well, three key figures who would make his transition easier.

It’s also worth remembering that he reportedly asked Canadiens players, during a game two years ago, to trade for him, an anecdote that says a lot.

He recorded 50 points last season, including 22 goals, production that remains solid despite being 35 years old.

The Montreal Canadiens’ training camp will begin on September 16, just days before this situation could potentially reach its conclusion.

Kent Hughes should be keeping a close eye on the situation, considering the urgency on Kreider’s side to get a deal finalized.

In short, Renaud Lavoie’s comments are only adding to the hope among Montreal fans that Kreider could end up joining the Canadiens.

And you, what do you think about all of this?
