The exchange occurred during the matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs, played tonight at the Bell Centre.

Pezzetta immediately stopped fighting as soon as Condotta’s protective helmet ended up on the ice.

A classy gesture reminding us that even in the heat of the action, safety comes first between former teammates.

Safety First Between Former Teammates

Pezzetta was making his very first return to the Bell Centre since his move to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

His return had not gone unnoticed this week, with several observers already anticipating sparks with a member of the Xhekaj family.

This fight against Condotta instead stole the show, offering a memorable moment for much better reasons.

Fortunately, this type of restraint remains an increasingly common practice among fighters in the Bettman circuit.

The two men know each other well, having shared the same locker room at a certain point in their respective careers.

This kind of friendly duel between former teammates adds a special flavor to training camp preseason games.

Regardless of the sport, this kind of moment reminds us that a minimum of respect always remains between opponents on the ice.

The game between the two teams continues tonight as the Canadiens wrap up their preparation before the official start of the season.
