Detroit Red Wings<\/a> defenceman Simon Edvinsson<\/a> is generating interest from around the league as the restricted free agent remains without a deal in the early days of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported Thursday that the Boston Bruins<\/a> are one of at least 10 teams that have checked in on Edvinsson as he remains away from the team amidst contract negotiations.<\/p>\n

LeBrun added that Detroit remains intent on signing the Swedish blue liner to an extension despite teams making inquiries, but both sides have yet to come to an agreement with a \u201csizeable gap\u201d in salary holding up contract talks.<\/p>\n

Edvinsson, 23, returned to his native Sweden after spending training camp with Detroit and has been skating with Frolunda HC of the SHL, according to Swedish reporter Andreas III Johnsson.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-6, 222-pound skater recorded nine goals and 16 assists over 72 games last season while playing a career-high 22:21 minutes of ice time per game.<\/p>\n

Selected sixth overall by the Red Wings in 2021, Edvinsson has posted 19 goals and 41 assists over 175 career games in Detroit.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Edvinsson contract saga, Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff is also in the midst of dealing with a high-profile trade request from Dylan Larkin<\/a>, who was subsequently stripped of his captaincy in training camp.<\/p>\n

After losing back-to-back games to open the 2026-27 campaign, the Red Wings got their first win on the year Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators<\/a>, with Larkin scoring a goal and an assist in his season debut.<\/p>\n

The Waterford, Mich. native is entering the fourth season of an eight-year, $69.60 million deal that holds a cap hit of $8.7 million annually.<\/p>\n

Larkin\u2019s deal includes a full no-movement clause through next season, when it shifts to a modified 10-team no trade list for the final three years of the contract. <\/p>\n
