The Wild went 0-for-3 on the power play and surrendered three goals on five Oilers chances, including Evan Bouchard’s winner 3:32 into overtime that followed a too-many-men penalty. Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Hartman scored in the third period to erase a two-goal deficit. Jesper Wallstedt stopped 28 of 32 shots. Minnesota won 55.2 percent of its faceoffs but committed 20 giveaways.

The trip to Calgary continues a stretch away from home that began with a 5-2 loss in Winnipeg on Oct. 13, the second half of a back-to-back. Kaprizov scored twice in the first period, the second on a Quinn Hughes point shot, before the Jets took over. Minnesota managed three shots in the second period after leading 13-7 on the shot clock, and Cole Perfetti’s power-play goal put Winnipeg ahead for good.

Calgary Flames News & Notes

Calgary’s forward group has been reshuffled in the past few days. Mikael Backlund is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and Sam Honzek has been placed on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the Flames recalled Ben Jones from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, bringing up a forward who had been producing at that level. The club also made what were described as intriguing lineup decisions ahead of its meeting with the Hurricanes.

Head coach Ryan Huska’s standing has become a talking point, with oddsmakers moving him up the list of coaches under pressure following Calgary’s early-season results. Joel Farabee, meanwhile, has been publicly put on notice about a possible trade, and there has been speculation the organization could be lining up another significant roster shake-up. Off the ice, the Flames have teased gold-heavy “Hometown Remix” uniforms. The Wranglers lost a third-period lead in Ontario and dropped a second straight game.

Minnesota Wild Projected Lines

Line 1: Kirill Kaprizov – Joel Eriksson Ek – Matt Boldy

Line 2: Blake Coleman – Ryan Hartman – Bobby Brink

Line 3: Yakov Trenin – Danila Yurov – Maxim Shabanov

Line 4: Nico Sturm – Michael McCarron – Tyler Pitlick

Pair 1: Quinn Hughes – Jonas Brodin

Pair 2: Daemon Hunt – Zach Bogosian

Pair 3: Matt Kiersted – David Spacek

Goaltenders: Jesper Wallstedt – Calvin Pickard

Minnesota Wild Special Teams

Power play, First unit: Maxim Shabanov – Joel Eriksson Ek – Kirill Kaprizov – Quinn Hughes – Matt Boldy

Power play, Second unit: Blake Coleman – Ryan Hartman – Danila Yurov – Bobby Brink – Quinn Hughes

Penalty kill, First unit: Michael McCarron – Blake Coleman – Jonas Brodin – Zach Bogosian

Penalty kill, Second unit: Joel Eriksson Ek – Matt Boldy – Matt Kiersted – Daemon Hunt

Calgary Flames Projected Lines

Line 1: Joel Farabee – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato

Line 2: Aydar Suniev – Morgan Frost – Yegor Sharangovich

Line 3: Matvei Gridin – Martin Pospisil – Ryan Strome

Line 4: Brennan Othmann – Jonathan Castagna – Adam Klapka

Pair 1: Kevin Bahl – Simon Nemec

Pair 2: Jacob Middleton – Zach Whitecloud

Pair 3: Yan Kuznetsov – Zayne Parekh

Goaltenders: Devin Cooley – Dustin Wolf

Calgary Flames Special Teams

Power play, First unit: Joel Farabee – Morgan Frost – Matt Coronato – Matvei Gridin – Zayne Parekh

Power play, Second unit: Adam Klapka – Ryan Strome – Aydar Suniev – Simon Nemec – Yegor Sharangovich

Penalty kill, First unit: Mikael Backlund – Jonathan Castagna – Jacob Middleton – Zach Whitecloud

Penalty kill, Second unit: Martin Pospisil – Yegor Sharangovich – Yan Kuznetsov – Kevin Bahl

Players To Watch

Joel Eriksson Ek — Minnesota Wild

Eriksson Ek fired eight shots in 22:45 last time out and scored once, and the underlying work backs it up: Box Score Junkie has him at 64.3% Corsi-for with 78.2 shot attempts for per 60 this season to date. He’s also two goals on 6.5 expected, so the shots-on-goal prop looks like the safer play than the goal.

Yegor Sharangovich — Calgary Flames

Sharangovich put six shots on net in 16:42 last game and buried one of them. Box Score Junkie credits him with a 57.6% Corsi-for and 72.0 shot attempts for per 60 through the 2026-27 season so far, with two goals on 2.0 expected. No luck inflating that, just steady volume worth a shots-prop look.

Injury Report

Minnesota Wild

Olli Maatta (D) — Out, Upper Body, expected back Tuesday, October 27

Jared Spurgeon (D) — Injured Reserve, Upper Body, expected back Tuesday, October 27

Filip Gustavsson (G) — Injured Reserve, Hip, expected back Thursday, November 19

Marcus Foligno (LW) — Injured Reserve, Lower Body, expected back Thursday, October 29

Nick Foligno (LW) — Injured Reserve, Upper Body, expected back Thursday, October 29

Brock Faber (D) — Injured Reserve, Skull, expected back Tuesday, November 3

Calgary Flames

Mikael Backlund (C) — Day-To-Day, Upper Body, expected back Thursday, October 22

Samuel Honzek (LW) — Injured Reserve, Lower Body, expected back Wednesday, October 28

Jonathan Huberdeau (LW) — Injured Reserve, Hip, expected back Monday, November 2

Next Up

Minnesota Wild: visit the Seattle Kraken on Saturday, October 24.

Calgary Flames: host the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, October 24.

The Minnesota Wild visit the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday, October 22, 2026, with puck drop…

[5118
73000,26,5,5236,795,499,9296,537,3714,1740,161,38,5280,4,5573,1496,2029,4198,162,8155
post-692806","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-minnesota-wild","tag-2026-27-nhl-regular-season","tag-calgary-flames","tag-hockey","tag-injury-report","tag-jesper-wallstedt","tag-joel-eriksson-ek","tag-joel-farabee","tag-kirill-kaprizov","tag-line-combinations","tag-mikael-backlund","tag-minnesota","tag-minnesota-wild","tag-minnesotawild","tag-nhl","tag-nhl-game-preview","tag-quinn-hughes","tag-ryan-hartman","tag-scotiabank-saddledome","tag-wild","tag-yegor-sharangovich
["GET
