The veteran forward is taking personal leave to be with his family, with a return to the team expected later in the week, according to the report.Marner’s absence comes during the NHL regular season, requiring Vegas to adjust its lineup for the match. The situation is a family milestone rather than an injury-related absence, and the team will await his return.

Why Mitch Marner misses Vegas Golden Knights’ NHL game

Mitch Marner is missing the Vegas Golden Knights’ match against the St. Louis Blues to be with his wife as the couple prepares to welcome their second child. The report says Marner is expected to rejoin the team later in the week, although an exact return date has not been confirmed.Marner’s absence is connected to a major family moment, with Stephanie in labor as the couple prepares for the arrival of their second child. The couple already has one child, making the upcoming birth another important milestone for the family. The timing means Marner will step away from hockey duties for at least the Golden Knights’ game against St. Louis. Although his absence affects the team’s immediate plans, it is unrelated to an injury or a reported dispute with the organization. For the 29-year-old forward, the leave provides time to support his family during the birth. The report does not indicate that the situation will lead to an extended absence from the team.

When is Mitch Marner expected to return to the Golden Knights?

Marner is expected to rejoin the Vegas Golden Knights later in the week, according to the report. However, no specific return date or confirmation of his availability for the team’s next game has been provided. His status will depend on the timing of his return and the team’s plans for its upcoming schedule. Until he rejoins the group, Vegas will need to manage its forward lineup without one of its most productive playmakers. The Golden Knights have not been reported to have announced a longer-term roster change connected to Marner’s leave. His absence should therefore be viewed as temporary unless the team provides a different update.

How important is Mitch Marner to the Vegas Golden Knights?

Marner signed an eight-year, $96 million deal with Vegas in the summer of 2025, beginning a new chapter in his NHL career after nine seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, a testament to how important his offensive production and playmaking ability are to the Golden Knights. In Marner’s first regular season in Vegas, he tallied 80 points in 81 games, with 24 goals and 56 assists. The report says he led the NHL with 29 points in 22 games in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs and led the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final before losing to the Carolina Hurricanes in six games. Those performances highlight why his absence matters for Vegas. Marner is a scorer and a playmaker; he creates chances for his teammates, and his ability to play can influence the team’s offensive line combinations and power-play options. But the immediate impact will depend on how the coaches choose to use him in the lineup against St. Louis. For now, the focus remains on Marner’s family rather than NHL match results or trade rumors. The Golden Knights will aim to handle the match without him while awaiting his return. With the forward expected back later in the week, the current report points to a short-term absence rather than a change to his longer-term role with the franchise.

Mitch Marner’s wife Stephanie and their growing family (Credit: Getty Images) Mitch Marner is expected to miss the…

[5120
71,73974,5,533,4,106,534,84,5285,5284,39
post-693655","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-st-louis-blues","tag-blues","tag-family-leave","tag-hockey","tag-mitch-marner","tag-nhl","tag-nhl-news","tag-st-louis","tag-st-louis-blues","tag-stlouis","tag-stlouisblues","tag-vegas-golden-knights
["GET
