Ottawa placed Warren Foegele on injured reserve Friday after he absorbed a knee-on-knee hit, and the club recalled Philip Tomasino and Xavier Bourgault from AHL Belleville to fill the openings. Andre Burakovsky also left a game with an upper-body injury earlier in the week. The moves leave the Senators leaning on call-ups through a stretch of the schedule that has already forced repeated lineup changes up front.

Hayden Hodgson was suspended two games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for charging and boarding Kings defenceman Brandt Clarke, a ruling that drew debate over its length. That game in Los Angeles on October 29 ended 6-5 for the Kings in overtime after they surrendered a four-goal third-period lead. Ottawa continues the California portion of the trip in San Jose, with the defensive structure among the areas the staff has flagged for cleanup.

San Jose Sharks News & Notes

The Sharks have been linked to Detroit defenseman Simon Edvinsson, with reports indicating San Jose has held extensive talks with the Red Wings about the restricted free agent and has made what one insider described as a serious offer. Detroit is said to be seeking a young center in return, with Michael Misa and Will Smith surfacing in connection to the discussions. San Jose is reported to be one of several clubs taking a long look at Edvinsson. Nothing has been completed.

San Jose rallied for a comeback win over Vancouver in its 14th game of the season, a result the club framed as a starting point rather than a resolution, with consistency the larger test going forward. Ottawa arrives at SAP Center shorthanded after a suspension thinned its lineup. The Sharks also have an off-ice item on the calendar: the team’s hometown remix jerseys are scheduled to debut in November.

Ottawa Senators Projected Lines

Line 1: Fabian Zetterlund – Tim Stützle – Claude Giroux

Line 2: Andre Burakovsky – Dylan Cozens – Drake Batherson

Line 3: Ridly Greig – Shane Pinto – Michael Amadio

Line 4: Hayden Hodgson – Stephen Halliday – Nick Cousins

Pair 1: Jake Sanderson – Artem Zub

Pair 2: Thomas Chabot – Jordan Spence

Pair 3: Tyler Kleven – Nikolas Matinpalo

Goaltenders: Jonas Johansson – Samuel Ersson

Ottawa Senators Special Teams

Power play, First unit: Drake Batherson – Stephen Halliday – Dylan Cozens – Tim Stützle – Jake Sanderson

Power play, Second unit: Andre Burakovsky – Shane Pinto – Claude Giroux – Fabian Zetterlund – Thomas Chabot

Penalty kill, First unit: Shane Pinto – Ridly Greig – Jake Sanderson – Artem Zub

Penalty kill, Second unit: Tim Stützle – Michael Amadio – Tyler Kleven – Thomas Chabot

San Jose Sharks Projected Lines

Line 1: Ivar Stenberg – Macklin Celebrini – Collin Graf

Line 2: Mason Marchment – Michael Misa – Will Smith

Line 3: Kiefer Sherwood – Filip Bystedt – Tyler Toffoli

Line 4: Barclay Goodrow – Ty Dellandrea – Adam Gaudette

Pair 1: Sam Dickinson – Jacob Trouba

Pair 2: Darnell Nurse – Michael Kesselring

Pair 3: Dmitry Orlov – Nolan Allan

Goaltenders: Yaroslav Askarov – Alex Nedeljkovic

San Jose Sharks Special Teams

Power play, First unit: Mason Marchment – Will Smith – Macklin Celebrini – Ivar Stenberg – Dmitry Orlov

Power play, Second unit: Kiefer Sherwood – Michael Misa – Tyler Toffoli – Adam Gaudette – Jacob Trouba

Penalty kill, First unit: Barclay Goodrow – Collin Graf – Sam Dickinson – Jacob Trouba

Penalty kill, Second unit: Ty Dellandrea – Kiefer Sherwood – Darnell Nurse – Michael Kesselring

Players To Watch

Tim Stützle — Ottawa Senators

Stützle piled up three assists in 22:21 last time out, and Box Score Junkie’s 2026-27 numbers back the drive: 52.1% Corsi-for, 53.7% Fenwick and 56.9 shot attempts for per 60 across 308 minutes.
