The 24-year-old forward was given an immediate opportunity on Los Angeles’ first line alongside Artemi Panarin and Alex Laferriere. Chromiak received the opportunity with Adrian Kempe unavailable due to an undisclosed injury. Kempe is currently listed as day-to-day.

Martin Chromiak finished with one shot on goal in 17:31 of ice time, including 4:27 on the power play, in the Kings’ 3-2 loss. Although he did not record a point, his debut marked an important step following several seasons of development in Ontario.

Chromiak’s Development With Ontario

Originally selected by the Kings in the fifth round, 128th overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft, Chromiak joined the organization after spending time with the Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League. The Ilava, Slovakia, native made his first AHL appearances during the 2020-21 season before becoming a regular with Ontario in 2022-23.

Martin Chromiak recorded 28 points in 55 games during the 2022-23 season before improving to 32 points in 70 games the following year. His production continued to increase in 2024-25, when he finished with 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 points in 69 games. Through parts of six AHL seasons, Chromiak has recorded 82 goals and 81 assists for 163 points in 276 regular-season games, spending his entire North American professional career with the Reign.

Breakout Season Leads to NHL Opportunity

Chromiak took another step forward during the 2025-26 season, establishing professional career highs in goals, assists, and points. In 71 games with Ontario, he recorded 28 goals and 28 assists for 56 points, leading the Reign in all three categories. His seven game-winning goals and 12 power-play goals also led the team.

The offensive production has carried into the 2026-27 season. Before his recall, Chromiak had six goals and two assists for eight points through nine games, leading Ontario in both goals and points. His early-season performance earned him AHL Player of the Week honors on October 26. Chromiak recorded four goals and six points in three games, including two game-winning goals. All four of his goals came during the third period.

The Kings recalled Chromiak on October 29, assigning forward Jared Wright to Ontario in the corresponding move.

First-Line Opportunity With Los Angeles

Chromiak’s first NHL appearance came with more responsibility than a typical debut. With Kempe unavailable, Kings head coach Peter Laviolette placed Chromiak alongside Panarin and Laferriere on the top line. He also received more than four minutes of power-play ice time.

Following the game, Laviolette was positive about Chromiak’s performance.

“He brought speed to the lineup. I thought that line was really good,” Laviolette said.

The Kings coach also credited Chromiak’s skill and shooting ability, noting that the line generated offensive-zone time and scoring opportunities despite not finding the scoresheet. Chromiak’s NHL debut came just two days after his recall and followed the most productive stretch of his professional career. Whether he receives an extended opportunity with Los Angeles will depend on the team’s roster situation and his performance moving forward. For Chromiak, reaching the NHL after 276 games with Ontario is an important milestone. His next challenge will be turning that first opportunity into a regular role with the Kings.

After 276 American Hockey League games with the Ontario Reign, Martin Chromiak made his NHL debut with the…

[5126
366,401,74384,10969,3039,5,186,9514,1760,240,5303,793,145,5304,5302,12324,4,15466,853,338
post-701036","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-los-angeles-kings","tag-adrian-kempe","tag-ahl","tag-ahl-player-of-the-week","tag-alex-laferriere","tag-artemi-panarin","tag-hockey","tag-kings","tag-kingston-frontenacs","tag-la","tag-la-kings","tag-lakings","tag-los-angeles","tag-los-angeles-kings","tag-losangeles","tag-losangeleskings","tag-martin-chromiak","tag-nhl","tag-nhl-debut","tag-ontario-reign","tag-peter-laviolette
["GET
