(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.waff.com\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WAFF<\/a>) &#8211; Hockey players of all ages came from all over the country to Huntsville to play in a 12-hour game and raise money for cancer research. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The fifth annual \u201cThe Longest Game\u201d took place on Saturday at Huntsville\u2019s Ice Sports Center from 9 am to 9 pm. Over 100 hockey players, ranging from ages four to 60, came from all over the country to participate and help raise money for the <a href=\"https:\/\/russelhill.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/russelhill.org\/\">Russell Hill Cancer Foundation<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearviewcancer.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.clearviewcancer.com\/\">Clearview Cancer Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Experienced hockey player, Ralph Drensek, says he spent most of the day playing, having a great time while supporting a great cause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI have a lot of people who have been affected by cancer, and I\u2019ve played hockey for about 20 years now, so what better way to support that kind of stuff, right?\u201d Drensek said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The teams switched up the game modes often throughout the day, doing some one-on-one goalie shootouts and backwards skating-only games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In the end, over 200 goals were scored.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Justin Lucas has organized this event all five years, and he loves giving these skaters an opportunity like no other.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cOne of the things I\u2019m most proud of is that we have the same players coming back year after year,\u201d Lucas said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s the thing they look forward to all year long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lucas says their goal is to raise $20,000 from this event.
