Really like DB’s channel and I’ve seen Brandon featured multiple times on other people’s channels and seems to be a well respected opinion on OL. I had hoped we would have a top 10-12 OL last year which didn’t happen. Still have high hopes and their performance will be critical for our run heavy offense and protecting Rodgers.

Highlights:
– Seems really high on Frazier saying it’s not out of the question his ceiling is best C in the league.
– Jones still having issues with many of the things he struggled with coming out of college. Most of it is form/fundamentals and doesn’t think switching back to LT necessarily fixes any of them.
– Still high on Fautanu. Feels like it’s a great fit. Expecting him to really come into his game by mid season.
– Was not high on McCormick and didn’t seem to see much last season that changed his mind, but was a big jump in completion and he was serviceable despite being forced into playing earlier than expected so sounded hopeful he might develop.
– Seems bit pessimistic about Smith’s offense and our personnel overall. Thinks we need more motion, more play action, more diverse multiple zone scheme. Ranks them middle of the pack and thinks 12-24 ranked OL are similar and could see us anywhere in that range.

I’m still more optimistic than that on our OL but agree on McCormick and little worried about the depth so could see it going south particularly if Jones continues to struggle.

  1. Our line is the epitome of needing coaching to develop and prosper. We don’t have the personnel to make that happen. If they can’t naturally do their job above average then we’ll see what they really could’ve been once they move on from their rookie contracts and get some real guidance.

  2. My wildly oversimplified and uneducated yinzer version of OL analysis

If the OL plays at an average C level, we put in our standard 9-8 wildcard blowout

If they play at an above average B level, we win a playoff game and possibly make the ACFCCG

If they play at an elite A level, we challenge for 7 if we don’t win it all

We go as the OL goes. The better they hold up for AR, the further we’ll progress. I have fewer concerns about the D/ST in totality or any other specialized group (including WR w/o a true #2 alongside DK) than I do about the OL.

*Please lord baby Jesus in the manger give us another generational player named Troy*
