As Nate MacKinnon was preparing to do an interview shortly after the Avalanche defeated the Lightning in Game 6 to capture the Stanley Cup, Andrew Cogliano skated up and whispered, “87.” When ESPN’s Emily Kaplan asked MacKinnon what that meant, he explained: “Yesterday, my room number was 1787, so we just felt like it was fate.
