  1. Giannis is definitely one of the more humble guys at the top. I don’t think it’s difficult to argue for Giannis given his two-way ability and his maintaining it over the course of a season, but I also think Lebron could outplay any other guy in the playoffs/in a series and it shouldn’t be a shocker to anybody.

  2. I think you can still make the case that it’s lebron even if I don’t necessarily agree with it and that alone is amazing for a 38 year old player

  3. I wouldn’t bet against lebron ever. But I still think Giannis is best in the league right now.

  4. Didn’t Giannis at one point say he puts other players above him so he can keep a chip on his shoulder.

  5. It’s Giannis. He’s just being humble. The only ones who could immediately take that mantle from him are Jokic or Luka.

  6. If Giannis wasn’t in the League I think Lebron could have a much more genuine argument for being the best player in the League still at 38 which is pretty crazy.

There’s definitely still some strong arguments for a few other players not named Giannis above LeBron right now like Steph/Jokic/Durant but I don’t really think there’s anyone else in the league other then Giannis who is almost unquestionably above Lebron right now.

  7. Gun to my head, I’d probably say Giannis is the best player right now. I get it though, Giannis always seems like he’s genuinely trying to up his game and even old Lebron is a more complete player than Giannis. Makes a lot of sense to me that Giannis values some of those other skills. It will rile this sub up for sure, but Lebron’s going to get name-checked forever by guys looking to expand their game.

  8. Last year: KD’s the best player in the world, this year: Lebron’s the best player in the world, next year: Curry’s the best player in the world, 4 years later: Thanasis’ the best player in the world

  9. I love how much respect and admiration guys like Giannis have for Lebron , Luka too. Especially as the way they play is probably influenced by him. Lebron is like the more balanced well rounded/talented version of them two . It’s why I find it funny when people say Lebron didn’t change the game when the guy we think is taking the leave after him , large part of his game is from Lebrons play style.

  10. I like them both, they’re probably 1a/1b for me, but if Giannis ever gets that jumper consistent it’ll be no question

  11. The LeBron homer in me wants to say playoff LeBron will show everyone he’s the best in the world but…nah, it’s Giannis.

I do NOT understand these Luka answers. Did we watch the same games? LeBron is still better than Luka at basically everything. Anyone saying Luka over LeBron has worms for brains sorry

  12. He’s right but even as a Bron stan, Giannis is the most fun player to watch now. Along with Jokic. Morant and Luka not far behind

  13. Lebron has the most complete game in the league and one of if not the most completes games in basketball history. But he is getting up there in age and can only bring it out in bursts, not 82 games 48min. Ability wise I still don’t think anyone else is better when he clicks

  14. I love how giannis changes his stance on best player in the world like every 3 months lol

  15. Not even close. All lebron has gotten since 2013 is credit. No more blame, no more questioning just credit and praise. He is still great and the best of all time? Yes. Is he still the best right now? No.

  16. It’s worth realizing just how bad LeBron’s supporting cast is on the Lakers. They’re an atrociously managed team. Giannis wouldn’t have made the WCF with them either.

  17. Sometimes I like Ja’s mentality. Basically “I’m the best come see me.” I’d want Giannis if I were to pick

  18. But all the Boomers on my facebook feed say rotational players in the 80s would put the clamps on Lebron WITH EASE!

  19. A bit of a context:

One of the Greek reporters said he was the best in the world, and he immediately stopped the question, and said like three times “I’m not the best. Don’t you ever say I’m the best.”.

He did something similar when he won his first MVP. He said “Don’t call me an MVP, not until I win it again.“.

In an interview with Jim Paschke, he also pointed out that, to him view, resting on one’s laurels is the most toxic things one could do.

This is his [very famous quote about ego](https://youtu.be/-qLchg4xkOY). I think a couple NFL teams have that one blasted on their walls, as a reminder for players to stay humble.
