Offering Dominguez either has me like “what does he know” or “volpe and peraza are sure things and he’s still iffy”
either way I suppose it could be smoke no fire and they keep him or he ends up being a main piece to something
Dominguez isn’t ready/refined as Volpe is, but hes 2 years younger, so his trade value is not what other teams want. Come back late ’23 or mid ’24 and Dominguez value should go back up to what Volpe is at, to the point where hes ready for the next level or highly valued trade asset. Teams also value SS more than OF given that they have best defensive ability/flexibilty on the field.
Yanks have been in Castillo talks going back to late ’18, ’19, its also possible that Reds were not going to trade Castillo unless they were blown away/overpaid for in a deal. Since Castillo has been in rumors even prior to ’22 season.
That’s actually pretty surprising. He must be really sold on the shortstops.
Also, Dominguez’s triple slash at A+ thus far (as a 19 yr old in 18 games) is .273/392/439 with 2 homers and 8 stolen bases. He’s also striking out slightly less than he did in A ball. So maybe he’s finally finding a groove?
How in the world did Castillo command the Mariners top 3 guys and Jasson from us, yet Montas went for nothing of the sort?
They’re not THAT different in stature; even if Castillo is a bit better, I don’t think he’s worth that much more in prospects.
Cash can’t say Peraza was off limits yet at the same time refuse to call him up lol
Why keep two shortstops? Or are they planning to move one to third
