[TheAthletic] LeBron James’ decision to re-sign with the #Lakers was not without complications. Sources tell @jovanbuha James has been privately adamant that the Lakers still need to improve the current roster – and need to trade for Kyrie Irving.

> The primary complication in James’ decision was that he has been privately adamant that the Lakers still need to improve the current roster and trade for superstar point guard Kyrie Irving, league sources have told The Athletic.

Do you think the lakers and nets will get a Kyrie trade done?

  1. Seeing father and son reunited might be a feel-good enough story to make me cheer for Lebron, Kyrie and the Lakers all getting another ring.

  2. I am privately adamant that Sydney Sweeney needs to marry me.

I will do nothing to increase the chances of this happening, but I am adamant and insist that this should happen somehow.

  3. Brooklyn will be happy to know Lebron is holding the Lakers feet to the fire in any potential future negotiations

  4. “I ain’t doin shit because your ass is mine now, LeBron.” – Jeanne probably

  5. Then he goes and signs a contract that will take up 40+% of the team’s salary cap.

    Edit: *Nearly 40%

  6. I think the Nets want to hold onto Kyrie unless they get something incredible in return. Kyrie is fine being there.

  7. “i would love to trade for kyrie lebron, but we already traded all our assets for your buddy Russ.”

  8. Damn if you’re hoping for Kyrie Irving to be the savior of your franchise in 2022 you must be in the dumps

  9. Who cares. This shift is getting tiring, nobody trading for Westbrick and Nets just cock teasing the whole league by waving KD around knowing their keeping him barring the Pelicans offering Zion or something crazy.

  10. Lebron pushed for the Lakers to trade Westbrook. He and Klutch wanted to swap Westbrook for Wall. And now he wants the Lakers to make the roster better somehow even though they’re strapped and don’t have good trade assets due to Westbrook.

And the Lakers literally could stumble ass backwards into Kyrie if they just take Harris and give up the damn draft picks. This is fucked up.

  11. We know that the Nets don’t want draft picks for KD, and by reports from yesterday it may also be apparent that they don’t want picks for Kyrie.

I wonder what it would need to look like to get a third team involved to send players to the Nets while taking draft picks from the Lakers. Does Brooklyn accept Hield and Turner for Irving with both Lakers picks and Westbrook going to Indiana?

  12. If Kyrie truly wanted to stay in Brooklyn I don’t think Lebron would push the Lakers to trade for him. Also wouldn’t he tell Lebron he’s good and don’t push the FO to make a trade for him.

  13. >The Athletic / Jovan Buha] Based on the current roster, I project the closing lineup to look something like this: Davis, Toscano-Anderson, James, [Troy] Brown and Reaves.

so is a closing lineup of AD JTA LBJ KAI and austin reaves good enough to contend? especially if the bench is trash? and then they won’t be able to use the picks to trade for some better players next year, another year lebron will definitely be with the lakers (ok, trades will be hard because of salary-matching, but at least they have THT’s salary).

  14. Lol man I really think Not offering them unprotected first earlier this summer hurt their chances
