  1. 05-06 to 09-10 was definitely peak Kobe as an offensive player(although not as a defender) IMO

He averaged 30/6/5 on 57% TS in both the regular season and playoffs which in that lower scoring era was extremely impressive

Maybe Instagram types overrate him at times but this sub definitely swings back too far in the other direction lol

  2. The 8th seed won 50 games and was led by Kevin Durant who was 1st team All NBA lol

    West was crazy

  3. I love 00s basketball and its such a shame that every video of that era is terrible quality.

  4. Thats honestly insane. 5 of them would have been a sure loss if he missed. The other two it was a tied game so who knows.

  5. There’s a reason I have him on Mount Rushmore. One of the purest ballers we’ve ever seen

  6. Kobe ran the nba 2008 to 2010. Best player especially when it mattered. Quite a few 3 pt winners. He’d be a fine 3 pt shooter in this era lmao

  7. The lowest the Lakers were in the standing that year was 5th and they had a really good record.

This game in particular the lakers were 30-9 and had a firm lock in at the 1 seed for the rest of the season

Standings that day in the west

    1. Lakers 30-9
    2. Denver 25-14
    3. Dallas 25-13
    4. Portland 24-16
    5. Phoenix 24-15
    6. Spurs 24-13
    7. Rockets 22-17
    8. Jazz 21-17

The Lakers would go 27-16 the rest of the season.

  8. Yeah, but have you considered that his advanced stats aren’t very good?

If it’s not put into numbers and on bbref that I can just point at instead of watching the games, then it wasn’t very valuable/didn’t contribute to winning

  9. Ahh if anybody else experiences the “something went wrong” any chance there’s a link. This is my personal favourite year of basketball

  10. I always look back at the season as Kob’ bailing them out with the game winners but when he needed them most with *his* reputation/”legacy” on the line in Game 7 where he shot 6-24, his teammates sort of returned the favor playing huge.

  11. With a broken finger on his shooting hand… the man was as ridiculous as the kids on this sub who’s hit on him.

  12. One of my favorite parts about the first one vs the Heat is seeing Mike Breen stand up in the bottom left after the shot goes in lol

  13. Hitting a game winner with the score tied is awesome, but hitting it when you trail and the game is on the line (and everyone knows you’re getting the ball) is next level.

  14. Still can’t watch Kobe highlights without it being surreal. Unease in the pit of your stomach. Not just that he died young, but how he died–it’s something about human fragility and the evanescence of life. One of the greatest athletes we’ve seen had his body just destroyed quicker than it took him to get a shot off. And then those cops snapped and shared pictures of what was left of him. Sickening.

  15. I love that these are presented in order. I remember watching this stretch of games for the Lakers and you could tell that not only Kobe but the entire team was getting “used” to this insane degree of clutchness by Kobe. Each of these shots would make most players top 5 nba plays of all time for their entire career, but for Kobe he walked into those time outs as if he had just hit any old three pointer with casual high fives.

RIP Mamba, I still miss you

  16. the stretch that this video represents is one of those things that is unmatched in nba history at least since the 80s. not even mj had a stretch like this. when this happened, like around the 4th buzzer beater i remember saying i don’t think I’ve ever seen this before.

it’s possible bird might have had a similar stretch but it would take a real hardcore Celtics fan to confirm it.

  17. Damn. All but one of these his team was trailing

The pressure on shots when trailing is so much higher than any other shot, literally win or go home

  18. And this is why kids still yell “KOBEEE” when shooting pretend buzzer shots on the court or anywhere else. Best clutch player ever.

  19. can’t wait to see how the reddit nephews spin this one to discredit Kobe…
