First I heard of this, could just have been a biopsy or something
Neck injuries are nothing to fuck with. If he has legitimate issues with his neck then it might be time to retire. I would never risk it with a contact heavy sport like football.
That neck scar is pretty textbook thyroidectomy scar.
I wonder if the scans they did for the initial injury picked up something on his thyroid coincidentally. Lucky as hell if so.

Was choking on a piece of steak in a restaurant. Luckily Dr House was there did an emergency Tracheotomy with a steak knife and a straw.
