What do you think of him? I think if for any reason Logan Thomas is out, he is about to ball out. Watching this highlight video, he showcases superior blocking and power along with great hands and shiftiness. I think he could be fantastic this year.

He is just a guy, honestly. He isn’t a terribly gifted athlete and doesn’t show a ton of savvy in his route running. He does a pretty solid job of shifting his weight in and out of cuts, but he doesn’t really have the speed to make CBs, safeties, or even modern LBs swing their hips.
Pretty respectable blocks, so I can definitely see him having some value in short yardage situations, but I think it is more likely than not he never eclipses 500 yards in a season.
He looks the part. Needs to stay healthy
Great blocker, but I don’t think he showed the receiving talent that the top receiving TEs do. Short arms and kinda stiff. That said, he showed good hands and some YAC skills so I expect him to be an every-down starter until Thomas returns. Wentz seems to love throwing to TEs so he will definitely be tested this year
Logan Paulsen has called him the best blocking TE in the league already and that alone makes him a big asset. I think he’s in for a solid career. I see him as a great TE2 who will put up 400-500 yards and a few touchdowns a season while being huge for the run game. With Wentz at QB and Logan working his way back, Bates will have every opportunity to produce early on this year.
I’m hoping he stays for his career. Don’t know why I like him so much,I kind of picked him as my favorite I guess. They sure are brining in a lot of TE’s through though. I guess we’ll see.
