Doc: AOOHHHHH!
69 to 67 with seconds left in the game….
As much as I love defense that’s ridiculous
Better than the Lebron Iggy block
Checked the score and thought “it was just end of the 3rd quarter. Great block but nowhere near game or playoff deciding…..oh”
Should’ve dunked it
Tayshaun was such a beast
To that point in my life, I think this was the second time watching something in basketball that literally knocked me out of my seat (the other was Vince Carter’s first dunk in the 2000 dunk contest). I’m pretty sure I crawled toward the television like an infant as the replay cycled through.
Super bias coming through, but I always thought Brad Nessler sounded a little *too* excited about Reggie Miller that entire game. So when he just about climaxed with his “REGGIE MILLER”, I was both distraught and irrationally angry. I even knew about Tayshaun’s chasedown penchant at that point but still thought this one might be a *little* too far out of his reach. But alas.
In the full clip, I always took pleasure in Doc Rivers losing his mind while Nessler seemed to be coping (my bias applied my own imagined emotions to Nessler in this case). Toward the end of the sequence, Nessler even goes as far as to wonder, in a very Fred Willard/Best-In-Show-like manner, [whether Miller slowed down on purpose to get a 3-point play](https://youtu.be/8QJ4iwqnLKc?t=174), to which Rivers just goes, “No.”
best Playoffs block of all time, idgaf about Lebron/Iggy
Saved the series for Detroit. Second most important block in a playoff series i’ve ever seen after Lebrons.
I know you can’t know what would happen otherwise but Pacers split at Detroit after this.
Series would have been over if it went back to Indy 3-1 instead of 2-2
Reggie Miller had to look down/slow down his dribble as a pro smh. That’s what allowed Tayshaun to get back into the play.
Before the LeBron block on Iggy, this was the one
I watched this live and I really thought Reggie was gonna tie the game.
Prince is da goat
Jermaine’s face is perfect lol
69-67 in the 4th quarter? Holy fuck
No
My day was going great up until this reminder…
These plays in these moments are why I am an NBA fan. Seeing this live was incredible and unbelievable.
Oh man. I remember this playoffs. A rookie Dwyane Wade. We took that Indiana team to 6. He was electric.
Watching this live was such a mind fuck
Is Reggie not 6’7 and really lanky, no excuse not to just jam that thing. Almost 7 feet tall and goes for a layup, also a vet should have some peripheral vision or sense if someone is closing
Before we had “BLOCKED BY JAMES”, we had “BLOCKED BY TAYSHAUN”.
FIRST TIME I’VE SEEN THIS NGL
Delete this.
Unthinkable not to dunk there…
I thought this was still the 3rd quarter looking at the point total. Crazy how today’s game changed.
And Sheed going nuts, remember he guaranteed that win. Tayshaun saved him on that.
This play and the 2004 pistons as a whole are so underrated
