[Dan Schneier] One of my favorite things I’ve noticed about the new #Giants regime is that they’re not going to run the ball just to run in obvious run situations. 2nd and 10 after first down miss? Under Garrett it was run next. Daboll throws. 2nd and 2? Passes again. Nine straight pass calls.

  1. At least 3rd string LG, 4th string C…and we were imposing our will.

    Day and night difference.

  2. How much of that is to test DJ in preseason though? He’s probably done for the night now. No doubt this regime is better, but I think a little more context is needed here.

  3. Daboll didn’t really like running the football in Buffalo, I expect a lot of passing plays this season.

  4. I know the team is still short on talent, but the fact that we have an actual functioning offense that doesn’t run on ideas from 1960 means our offense will at least be fun and take chances

  5. I love 2nd and short. I hope Daboll is going to be the type to really open the playbook on 2nd and short.

  6. That is going to be a huge improvement.

Run plays should not be used just because you think the WRs are too tired and need a quick break

  7. So I’m friends with Jabar Gaffney, he had Daboll as one of his coaches in New England. He said if McDaniels was out or had a personal day or something, Daboll would run practice and his play calling was war more fun. Said they went four wide almost all practice lol.

  8. Giants running on 2nd and 10 after an incomplete goes back way before Garrett. I thought it was in the team charter.
