The latest in the Celtics-KD thing:

>Among the interested teams, the Celtics have been viewed across the league as the clear-cut answer as the team that has the ingredients to make a deal with Brooklyn happen. For now, Boston has not included guard Marcus Smart or center Robert Williams in a proposal, sources said. The Celtics have up to three first-round picks available to trade to Brooklyn. When Brooklyn rejected Boston’s offer last month, the Nets countered by requesting Brown, Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player, according to sources.

>So yes, Boston has the necessary pieces and Brooklyn has listened, but a gap exists.

>For the Celtics, there’s a careful balance to improving the roster and maintaining their current status as a championship contender. President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has patiently and deftly continued to strengthen the Celtics’ roster following their NBA Finals berth, adding Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari this offseason.

>Now, will Boston step up to the Nets’ asking price to add a potential missing piece that has become available in a manner that has rarely happened in NBA history? We’ll have to wait and see.

>There’s just over one month remaining in the NBA’s offseason. The Celtics and other teams in pursuit of Durant have time to make their best proposals and these deals can escalate quickly, but the clock is ticking for everybody involved.

  1. We’re not trading for KD. Brooklyn doesn’t want to trade him, Boston doesn’t really want to trade JB when they could potentially have him in his prime for the next seven years. All of this media buzz is posturing by KD’s media team to put the heat on opposing FO’s go up their offers, which the Celtics rightfully won’t do because they don’t necessarily need KD given how good their stars are and how deep their team is- a depth that would surely be broken up if we acquired him.

  2. Shams is Brooklyn’s PR guy at this point trying to heat up a non existing bidding war for Durant

  3. It’s funny how we’re somehow the closest team to getting Durant and we’re not actually close at all, nor do we have any interest in him lol

  4. Not happening. There is ZERO reason for the Celtics to up the offer to meet the Nets demand. We already are the favorite to make the finals. Fuck em, let them sit on this aging prima-Donna until they have to accept a shit deal.

  5. It annoys me so much that people report JB on the table but guys like Barnes, Jackson, Bane, Bam, etc. being off the table, yet somehow the Cs need to step up their offer.

I don’t want to do a Durant deal but just on value basis, this is ridiculous.

  6. There hasn’t been a new development in weeks, but I see this same topic posted 5 times a day.

Brad kicked the tires and realized KD is a lemon. There is no trade discussion between Boston and Brooklyn.

  7. Wish we can fast forward to the season. These recycled posts are stale. Both KD and Kyrie will be members of the Nets at the start of training camp. There was a small window where Kyrie may have been available but that window is now closed. Both will be back and both will finish the season with the Nets.

  8. Shams also suggested MEM is a possibility for Durant

*Memphis has five first-round draft picks that could be included in an eventual trade package, as well as a stable of young players including Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke, Ziaire Williams, Kennedy Chandler and David Roddy.*

*The Grizzlies haven’t been inclined to include Jackson or Bane in discussions. Memphis would instead prefer to center the trade around their slew of draft picks.*

One challenge in following the rumors is balancing what might be available with what the Nets will accept. IF it’s true that the Nets asked for JB, Smart, picks AND another rotation player, then MEM ought to be aligning their offer to roughly match that. Or at least to top the reported Brown, White and a pick discussion. But it’s all over the place, and the quest for “news” goes sideways.

  9. Obviously this is just speculation, but it’s been seeming more and more like the Celtics offered JB, negotiations went nowhere, Brad pulled the offer, and now Brooklyn is leaking it to try and get Toronto and New Orleans to put Siakam and Ingram on the table. My guess is that the best offer on the table right now is Trent+Anunoby and they’re obviously not interested, but something like Siakam and Trent (plus picks and probably one of their bigs like Birch) for KD and Curry makes sense.

  10. Not this stupid shit again 🙄 KD IS NOT COMING TO BOSTON, AND JAYLEN IS NOT LEAVING.
