  1. “Pipeline” is defined as a u23 player in this article, so some notable roster players, mainly J. Hughes and Mercer are included.

    Players rank as follows:

    1. Jack Hughes
    2. Luke Hughes
    3. Simon Nemec
    4. Dawson Mercer
    5. Alexander Holtz
    6. Nolan Foote
    7. Shakir Mukhamadullin
    8. Kevin Bahl
    9. Nico Daws
    10. Arseni Gritsyuk
    11. Seamus Casey
    12. Tyler Brennan
    13. Zakhar Bardakov
    14. Chase Stillman

Honourable Mentions: Graeme Clarke, Ethan Edwards, Josh Filmon, Daniil Misyul, Patrick Moynihan, Nikita Okhotiuk, Daniil Orlov, Samu Salminen, Akira Schmid, Michael Vukojevic

  2. I think this is probably a fair ranking compared to the other teams. Buffalo’s pool is so deep. I think it’s super close between us and the Wings for 2. I’m biased but I much prefer our top 5 (Jack, Luke, Nemec, Mercer, Holtz) to Detroit’s (Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson, Kasper, Zadina), but Detroit probably has the better depth from 6-15.

As for the actual player rankings, Gritsyuk should be at 6. His KHL season was better than anything Foote has done so far. I still like Foote and think he can be a solid NHLer for us soon, but Gritsyuk is the better prospect right now, higher ceiling, maybe higher floor too. Also, Bardakov over Stillman is hilarious. I think it’s wrong, but the fact that Pronman thinks our 7th round overaged pick from 2021 is better than our later 1st is interesting to say the least.

  3. Totally understand the methodology, but do wonder where we’d sit if jack wasn’t included.
