  1. Personally, I don’t see it happening.

The value is relatively fair on paper IMO as Kerfoot is good on the PK and put up comparable numbers to Garland last season. Meanwhile, Sandin is a solid young LD who is poised for a big breakout year.

However, Garland is on a sweetheart contract for 4 more years while kerfoot will be a ufa at the end of this year. I also think Garland is better than his production last year indicates so we may be selling low.

Further, Sandin is an LHD which we aren’t in need of and, as they state, he hasn’t faired well on the right side when tried there by the leafs. They seem to predicate the idea on the basis that OEL will be on the move sooner rather than later, but I see this as unlikely given his albatross of a contract.

On the other hand, just to play devils advocate, Kerfoot plays center, which could be useful if we trade Miller. He’d be a fantastic 3C in that case who could be extended for far cheaper than miller obviously.

But, overall I don’t see this being our target if we decide to move Garland. I’d rather go for a RHD or a center who is younger/has more term than kerfoot.

  2. Interesting suggestion but I think another left handed D and a worse forward isn’t the best return. If it was Liljegren and Kerfoot, I’d maybe consider.

Garland is severely underrated and I wouldn’t give him away without something significant coming back. He was by far our best 5v5 player last year.

  3. Don’t mind Sandin at all for the 3rd pair, but that leaves us with what to do with Dermott, Rathbone, etc. We already have too many capable NHL LHD.

  4. don’t care about fan mock trades, Leafs fans are delusional. They are not going to get Garland for a 7th defensemen and a 3rd line player

Garland is 17th among wingers in points at 5v5 the last 2 years, and that’s while playing for Vancouver and Arizona. Bottom 5 teams at 5v5 goals in that time period

  5. Garland is criminally underrated here.

It would take Sandin and a 1st rounder. Don’t care about Kerfoot, he’s got a few years left in the league.

  6. So basically Torontos version of Ballard Raymond and a second. Kerfoot is a bottom 6 player and sandin is a bottom pair defenceman until he proves himself. Plus we don’t need more lhd.

Garland was a beast for us putting up 50 points last season, majority of them being even strength. Teams are going to have to pay for him cuz he’s apart of the Canucks plans rn.
