I’ve been saying it since Nurk first got here, he is a better basketball player than Rudy, and he has proved that in their match ups over the years. Nurk has put up some masterclass’s against the dude.
22 ppg / 8 reb / 7 ast / 1 stl / 6 blk
11 ppg / 15 reb / 6 ast / 3 stl / 4blk
just to name a couple.
Nurk has averaged **13.1 ppg / 8.4 reb / 3.3 ast/ 1 stl / 2.3 blk** in only **26 mpg** against Gobert in 12 games in a Blazer jersey, a pretty decent sample size. Yes that’s right only 26 mpg and he put those numbers up against “a superior center” to him.
Gobert admittedly put up similar stats, but in way more minutes. Plus if you actually watched those games, Nurk was straight up bullying him on both ends, it was hilarious to watch. Rudy looked helpless when Nurk was on him, and he had no answer for Nurk on defense either because Nurk could get to pretty much any spot he wanted to without much resistance.
I think this is the year where the perceived gap between Rudy and Nurk is closed.
Would love Nurk to develop a left hand for the drop step over the right shoulder. It can be awkward trying to flip up a right hand from that angle
