Who has to go the other way? Kane is no spring chicken and also won’t be cheap. If they made it work with minimal damage on our end I’d be pumped but I don’t see it coming out in our favour.
10.5 m cap hit.

I do want Kane.
Except we can’t afford him at 10.5. We can’t afford him at 5.25. We might be able to get him at 2.625 … but the cost to trade for Kane AND send him through another team to retain twice is probably massive.
He’d be expensive as shit and there’s a good chance it won’t work. We’re talking a haul of picks starting with a 1st and at least one of Robertson, Knies, or Sandin. Plus, we’d have to pay off some other team to help eat the contract since even at 50% his contract would be damn near unmanageable.
I do think this team needs more goal-scoring, but Kane would be far too expensive for it to be worth it. Our best chance at adding an elite (or at least near elite) scorer was Hall and Dubas spurned him in favour of fragile Nick Foligno.
I think this team can find players to put the puck in the net for cheaper, both assets-wise and cap-wise. Either Robertson takes a step or come the TDL some other and cheaper top 6 winger will be available for trade.
$10,500,000 is your answer.

He’d be great to have if we had the cap room, but we don’t, and the cost would be to high to trade for, unless…. Better question is how’d you create such a spectacular picture to encapsulate Kanes dreams and thoughts. Heavy kudos to you brother.
Everyone wants Kane, no one wants Kane’s contract. He is one of my favourite players of all time going back to his London Knights days. Some of the sickest hands to ever do it and next to AM34 that would be boner material right there

look I’m all for Auston’s happiness but he needs to choose if playing with Kane is gonna keep him happy next year and beyond or if he’s gonna want more money next season and beyond to be happy. Frankly I hope he chooses the money.
It’d take 1st + Roster Player + top prospect without any retention. The standard rate for retention is a 3rd and any trade with Kane would require double retention. To be fair I’d make that trade if it was for the whole season, if it’s for 20-30 games of Kane miss me with that.

I don’t think the cap is going up $10.5 million next season, and even if the cap does go up $5.25 million (the max the Hawks can retain) I don’t think he’d be worth the assets they’d have to give up to get him.
Plus, who starts in net?

The only way I want him is at at least half probably more and to get that the assets would be insane. Maybe at the trade deadline.

Are we playing nhl 22 with salary cap off? In that case yea I’d take him for sure.
However in real life were teams would smell somethings up and make us pay assets to move out Cap and or have to trade pretty valuable assets for pennies on the dollar(see Columbus, bjorkstrand). Then also have to pay a heavy price to get him in the first place and most definitely extra still to eat atleast some cap.
