  1. 90% chance Lions lose this game. 20% chance it’s a blowout. Eagles roster is complete and deep. If we win, somehow, playoff expectations will go thru the roof.

  2. I don’t think it’s a blowout like last year, but I still think the eagles take the victory. They matchup very well against us and have a more complete team imo. I’m excited to see Jordan Davis which is who I wanted at 12 (not that I’m upset we got Jamo, I like him a lot too).

That being said, if we come out swinging fast and make the eagles play from behind and force them to pass the ball then we have a chance to win. I don’t think Hurts is a complete passer yet. Eagles one weakness on defense seems to be there short passing coverage which is Goff’s home. Our o-line also needs to live up to its hype. Big running lanes and lots of time in the pocket for JG.

Also I expect Ford field to be loud. Lotta hype right now. Also hopefully the eagles come in thinking it will be a cake walk because of last year and we give them a better game. MCDC will have the locker room ready to go to war.

  3. I just hope we keep it competitive. Eagles are going to have a good run game so I’m excited to see how front 7 work together. Don’t know if we have LB to compete with their athleticism.

  4. I expect to be very frustrated as the lions defense consistently gives up first downs to Hurts running despite a consistent defensive effort on every other down.

We just can’t contain mobile QBs

  5. We should lose, unfortunately.

The Eagles might have the most loaded roster in the NFL. Their biggest weakness is at the QB position, and even then, they’ve got a guy who can make plays with his legs and break the game open.

Looking at rosters, I can’t think of a single position group where we are clearly better.

QB: DET if Goff’s the Goff from late last year, Hurts if not

RB: DET. Give me Swift and Williams over Sanders and Gainwell. It’s close though.

WR/TE: PHI. AJB and Smith could be one of the best WR duos in the league this year, and I think as of now Goedert and Hockenson are a wash.

OL: PHI. This might be a bit controversial here, seeing as many of us think we could have the best OL this year. And we very well could. But our starting 5 has still yet to take a regular season snap together. Philly’s OL has been a strength and one of the best in the league for years. Gotta go PHI for now.

DL: PHI. Another spot where we very well could be better, but that’s based on a lot of potential and projections. Philly’s DL isn’t some dominant group, but we have too many unknowns for me to put us here.

LB: Wash. We both have terrible LB groups.

DB: PHI. Philly might have the best secondary in the NFL. Slay, Bradberry, and CJG is a NASTY CB group. Philly could have 2 Will Harris’s at S and still have a better secondary than us. They may we’ll have 3 CB1s.

ST: DET. Solely based off ST DVOA from last year, we were 10th with +1.3%, PHI was 15th with +.3%

It should be a good game, and I think we have a great chance to upset them and win. I just want people to temper expectations a bit so if we do lose to a very very good team, this fanbase doesn’t implode.

  6. The perfect test to start the year. If we win, we’re going to the super bowl. If we lose, it was week 1 and don’t mean shit and we’re still going to the super bowl

  7. Gonna go with 27-20 eagles.

I don’t have a lot of confidence we can stop a mobile QB and they blew us out last year. If we’re only down 1-1.5 scores that will be improvement to me which is what I want to see

  8. Home game, crowd on fire. Eagles will have to be ready for this one.

It’s the Eagles’ game to lose, but the Lions are going to make them work for it. If the Eagles aren’t sharp, the Lions will make them pay.

  9. I want to see an overall good game from both sides of the ball. I don’t expect to win this one but an opening day win would let us live up to some of the national hype. Would love to see Hutch get a sack and Okudah look consistent. For the offense, Swift to push towards 100 rushing yards and Goff to throw for a few tds with no interceptions. If it’s close and we lose, I bet it’s from a missed kick. I don’t like our kicking situation right now. Go Lions, FTP

  10. I’ll tell y’all this much

Bias aside – I find it difficult to bet on this game. I can see it go either way.

  11. The Eagles should be a good team but we definitely have a shot. I’m surprised the line has stayed at Philly +3.5. The books must know something we dont.

    Lions 30 – Eagles 24
