1. Thats probably why the Heat haven’t offered him a new contract and are waiting until restricted free agency. Herro hasn’t shown he’s more than a bench scorer and they’re not gonna give him big money unless he proves otherwise.

   That’s the honest answer – they can’t let Tyler walk for nothing and can’t risk him hitting restricted free agency where he might get a $30+M offer.

   They need to overpay to extend him now to a number where we can get back under the tax dumping Robinson/Caleb/Victor (if he opts in).

   The right management move if we didn’t have a cheap owner is to let him hit free agency because he probably won’t get even $25, but if just one garbage team offered a max we have to match and then we might not be able to get under the tax, or at least might have to lose the first rounders we have available to do so.

   Is 25 mill an overpay for herro? Maybe slightly, but your never going to get fair market value for a player who contributes on a championship contender.
