  1. The Dodgers lost 2 out of 3 to the Nationals on July 25th – 27th. They lost one of those games 3-8. Even the best team in the league loses a series to a bad team every now and again. Shit happens, that’s just baseball for ya. The Mets are still in 1st place no matter what the Braves do today. All that matters is the next game against the Pirates, and I’m not worried at all about it.

    LFGM!

  2. I think the bots from Atlanta are outdueling the bots from NY. Makes sense because theyre owned by a media conglomerate.

  3. People who are big mad are acting like this is the NFL and this is a 16 game season. Stop being so fucking fickle and have faith in your team. Hot takes after one game or one series show a blatant misunderstanding of the sport of baseball.

  4. It’s frustrating because this has been a theme recently. The offense getting shutdown by below average pitching. Wasting quality starts by our starters a couple of times.

I get it it happens…but nothing about this offense instills confidence right now.

  5. The difference between the dodgers dropping games to the pirates and nationals earlier in the season is that they had built up a fucking 15 game lead on their division whereas we can’t help but scoreboard watch the Braves every time we go down in a game, so spare me with those comparisons

  6. I’m going to choose to be happy that we’re playing meaningful baseball in September and that I’m not a Braves fan

  7. LMAO at people downvoting me for having faith in a first place team with a month left in the season. Doomers gonna doom.

  8. If we end up as the wild card winner, would you pitch degrom and scherzer? Personally I’d hold them in the event we get to the nlds.

  9. Let me first give the Nationals credit for how they played the last two days, their young hitters are playing the season out to show what they can do for the team in the future and they definitely have some talent. It might not translate to being a good team record wise the next 2-3 years but they have some guys that could definitely be pieces. Corbin and Fedde pitched very well too, it’s surprising that of the 3 starters we faced it was Josiah Gray that struggled the most.

But ugh, this was a terrible loss. Two bad games in a row. I was afraid of having Carrasco coming off his injury starting today in a rubber game and unfortunately it didn’t end well. Also couldn’t get big hits when we needed them, the 7th inning was looking like it was set up for us to make it closer and then it ended up being a double play because of that terrible call. It’s a long season and these kind of series will happen, and it’s amazing it took this long for us to lose a series against a team with a poor record.

I really hope the team quickly puts this series behind them and can start getting it going again. We’ve let the Braves cut the lead really thin and then we got it back up before but we’re walking on a tightrope here. Let’s hope the Nationals play them tough also and can steal a series or two also.

  10. If the LA series was reversed with the Nats I think everyone would be okay. This home-stand record would be the same if we lost the series to the Dodgers but won the series against Washington. But at the same time the Mets can’t give up these opportunities. We really needed to keep the momentum going into the road trip. It’s very understandable for the fan base to be angry at the team for not just losing to the Nats, but not even being competitive in the two loses.

  11. No one believes that the Mets aren’t allowed to lose games, or aren’t allowed to lose games to bad teams.

It’s the context that matters here. Dropping a series to one of the worst teams in the league when your closest opponent is a game back in the standings is what’s unacceptable.

  12. This team is so freaking predictable. You just knew after everyone was talking about how easy the Mets schedule is after the Dodgers series this team immediately shows you it doesn’t matter how bad a team is, the Mets can lose to anyone. It’s never easy with this franchise. Losing a series at home to the worst team in baseball in a middle of a division race is pathetic and embarrassing. This team has some serious problems I don’t care how many wins they have.

  13. Losing 2/3 to the Nats in September in the middle of a pennant race when they are fielding a AAAA team cannot happen, period. The whole “it could happen to any team, the Dodgers lost a series to the Nats too” is nonsense.

The Dodgers are running away with their division. They have the luxury of having an off series. We don’t. Especially because, pretty much since the Reds series, whether we will have any offense on a given day is a complete dice roll. Pete, Vogey/Ruf, and Lindor are not hitting. You can’t maintain a division lead when the heart of your order is doing nothing. Honestly it’s kind of a miracle we’re even still in 1st place.

  14. I’m on vacation, out west in Lake Tahoe. Went on a four mile hike this morning with my dog. Got back by about the sixth inning. (Three hour time difference). Saw the Mets losing by a lot. I didn’t care and still don’t.

I made chocolate chip pancakes and Canadian bacon. It was good.

I had the game on in the background and nothing, not even this, is going to ruin my vacation.

Saddle up boys and girls. Whether we win or lose let’s at least have some fun and enjoy the ride.

  15. I just don’t get what gets the offense going at this point? Everyone is up and down… the DH spot hasn’t done anything significant in a while.

    What’s going to change?

  16. This is not being a doomer, but it’s scary how fast this offense goes from looking unstoppable to absolute shit. Cant be losing series against the husk of the Nationals. That shit is embarrassing.

  17. Only a matter of time before half the remaining roster gets 15 day dl’ed for hamstring tears. Start doing your prayers , it’s gonna be a tough stretch.

  18. Weak ass fucking “fans” in this thread conceding the division after one series. I’m completely serious in wondering what a team 35 games over .500 would have to do to earn these people’s respect. They expect this team to be perfect and will completely flip when the Mets win a bunch of games this week.

  19. The Mets are choking and they need the front office to perform the Heimlich.

Just give Vientos his shot and stop pretending that Vogelbach and Ruf would be the DH solutions Eppler believed in.

Vogelbach had a hot streak, then got hurt and went cold, and Ruf has not been as advertised.

It’s been two weeks since Vogelbach had his last hit, August 22nd, the home run in the Bronx.

The Mets need to improve the chemistry in the clubhouse so IR Vogelbach and DFA Marrero and bring up Vientos and Smith.

Maybe Smith’s presence can light Alonso’s fire.

    Something has to change.

Stop playing the same bats every day that aren’t producing.

  20. Why are we so bad against terrible pitchers. We only hit against good pitchers. Ive never seem anything like this before

  21. Braves going to sweep the Marlins while Mets lose to the worst team in baseball at home. You can’t make this crap up. This team should be embarrassed and fans shouldn’t be defended this BS. I swear if they lose the series to the Pirates they shouldn’t bother coming back to NY.

  22. As a lifelong Mets fan it’s easy for us to be pessimistic. Baseball is about as unpredictable as a sport can get but man we’ve had a wonderful season. Some of you guys seem to forget that we just won a series against the Dodgers. Losing to the Nats is still unacceptable considering they’re pretty much a Triple A team in the majors. However shit happens. We’re gonna be just fine. Our squad has shown that we can handle the better teams and that’s what matters most.
