Losing most of NL East lead isn’t a sign of the ‘same old Mets,’ the Braves are just winning at historic pace

  1. I made this exact point yesterday on another post, the Mets have a .609 winning percentage since June 1, but the Braves have a .724 winning percentage which is just insane.

I’m sure people somewhere will frame it as a collapse but a .609 winning percentage over those 3 months is better than all but 4 teams have amassed all season.

  2. The doomsayers always forget when discussing METS collapses that OTHER TEAMS NEED TO WIN A LOT.

Look at 2007, the fucking Phillies went 13-4 or 14-3 down the stretch. Colorado only lost 3-4 times over 25 games!

  3. And the thing is they’re mostly doing it by absolutely crushing bad teams. They’re 16-17 against teams above .500 since June 1 with a total of 4 series wins against such teams all season long. Their winning percentage against losing teams in that time span is .870 with a record of 47-7.

On top of that they got zero games against the Yankees and one fewer each against Houston and the Dodgers. We’ve had more games against top teams and done better against playoff teams and still are tied because they are absolutely destroying the sub .500 teams
