[HardevLad] 2022 Top 25 Under 25: Timothy Liljegren is #4

I think this is a fair summary, and I also feel kind of vindicated regarding what I’ve been saying about him for years. He’s ranked #4 here, he had a breakout year, he consistently makes very smart plays with the puck, and he’s improving defensively (especially alongside someone responsible like Gio or Muzzin). But. He really does struggle when the other team gets sustained possession in the zone. He gets caught standing in front of his own net when he’s too slow (mentally or on his feet) to make the decision to challenge the puck carrier vs. box out the man in front vs. move into passing lane.
So yeah, I’m happy with his contract and I think he’s going to be in the roster for most of the next couple years. But the hope is that he keeps developing instead of following Dermott’s path.
