[Silva] I got a call from a vet Giants beat writer late this week. My takeaways from the convo: Shepard, who tore his achilles last Week 15, will be a Week 1 starter and play ahead of Toney, in whom the staff has lost trust…Toney looks to open the season as No. 4 wideout after a lackluster summer

  1. You can’t lose trust if you never had it.

Also I don’t care if Toney is 6th string he is still going to get lots of chances as everyone (including himself) get injured

  2. Daboll and Schoen gonna clean house of anything that smells like Gettleman and bring in their own players

  3. My girlfriend’s brother’s cousin has a friend who met someone who knows the sister of someone who used to be a beat writer for the Giants. Check out this info!

  4. I mean Toney has been injured most of camp and is actually the 3rd receiver on the depth chart if you look at the giants website

  5. This sounds like bullshit considering two beat writers Art Stapleton and Paul Schwartz have said that they believe Toney will lead the team in receiving yards this season.

  6. Ah yes, the days leading up to week 1 where the wild fabricated reports come out to get everyone riled up.

Toney is our most talented WR, he’s not 4th string lmao

  7. Good riddance. Toney’s lack of availability is a problem. Seems like more than just an injury issue.

I’d take Shepherd over him any day.

  8. Kadarius Toney #1 WR with 15 catches for 500 yards as Schoen and Daboll play 4d chess vs. media (sum clowns).

  9. There is no way they would say this about Toney while low effort Golladay jogs his way down the field every play. This seems like an article for clicks

  10. The new regime also let people think they would never take Kayvon. These guys aren’t chumps like Gettleman, they could be pumping out shit disinformation on every level while scheming 10 targets for Toney behind the scenes.

    It’s also probably Pat Leonard.

  11. is evan silva a reliable source? I never heard of him. if this is true, why wouldn’t the giants beat writer release this story? since that is his job?

  12. I expect a lot of 4 receiver backfields anyway given the blatant spread offense we’re running, so no, Toney doesn’t lose a spot there.

We’re going to de-emphasize the tight end position given zero talent at the position and run a lot of motion RPO offense as we’ve already seen, so no, plenty of touches for Toney, Wandale, and Shep to go around

  13. It doesn’t matter if he’s the 4th WR, if he gets open he will get the ball. This seems more like a message than anything, the kid gets open.

  14. Toney sketches me out. Athletic af but does he give a shit? Can he stay healthy? Are all his “injuries” legit? Too many questions for a guy who flashed in one game and hasn’t shown he’s willing to be a leader or even participate. I’m hoping he balls out, and he should in the new system. But I have my reservations.

On topic, this post and article are ass.

  15. I might be wrong but I feel we can trust Shepard in comparison to toney. Ceiling is higher for toney but he’s been injured a lot and hasn’t shown brilliance for long stretches. If we could get his level for that cowboys game last year though- the ceiling is high.

I think toney if injured often this year is a bye bye player for the new regime though. The pick of wandale seemed like a play to get someone when they don’t trust toney imo.
