  1. He did lots of good in the city and for the franchise, but he also forced his way out because he cares more about his legacy than winning.

The way I see it, it’s a wash. If he didn’t do all the good and for the community I would despise him for the way he left.

He is just another QB on another team now, no ring of Honor or jersey retirement. Just a guy who once played here. Like a Seneca Wallace type view of him.

  2. Can’t wait to cheer him when he comes back to raise the 12th man flag after failing to win another super bowl. Go hawks!

  3. He got us our first SB, he was a good guy , good human, good teammate for about 8 years. I hate to say it but money, fame…seemed to have got the best of Russ. I wish him luck in life and sports, but boy will I be booing him tomorrow against my hawks.

  4. I will say this: I’m glad that all of the controversy and discontent from Seahawks fans with respect to Russ is football related. I never had to worry about Russ getting a DUI or saying some dumbass political shit in some interview. I know that this should be the bare minimum for a professional athlete getting paid as much as he is, but dear lord I can’t imagine having to root for some of the other QBs in the league.

I have friends that Russ visited while they were in the hospital, and it helped them so much. He liked the media to see it, maybe a little annoying, but who cares. As a Seattle resident during Russ’ tenure, I am thankful to the guy for a lot. As a Seahawks fan in the year of our lord and savior 2022, Russ can eat shit and all of the above is irrelevant to me come 5:15PM tomorrow.

  5. I’m not saying to root for the guy tomorrow, just to appreciate the type of person he was while playing here. Pillars of salt in here

  6. I very much enjoyed watching the best years of his career. No hard feelings.

    Hope he blows chunks tomorrow.

  7. Why? He was carried by the defense. When they were all gone he couldn’t carry the team. He wanted to win for his brand not for the city.

  8. Please don’t say the super bowl was just about defense. Y’all think we could’ve won with Matt Flynn? Cmon

  9. counsnt agree more.

That said, I will be at the game tomorrow and will be booing him thebentire time.

  10. Yes, I agree. But he changed. And so, I’m happy he’s gone now. No nail biting after every season to get the approval from Mr Wilson he’s staying for another year (for 10M a year)..

  11. He turned his back on us after he signed a long contract. Always told everyone he wanted to be here with one foot out the door. That’s betrayal and that’s the lasting memory he will leave. Can’t ignore it

  12. Definitely hoping he loses tomorrow, don’t care much what happens to the Broncos after that. (I mean, if they lose out that’s better draft picks for us, but I’m not holding hope for that.)

But yeah, it was a fun ride. And once Russ is retired, we can remember those years fondly.

  13. I also hope my ex girlfriend is very happy and that her new boyfriend is awesome. I also hope she brings her new boyfriend to my house and expects me to be nice.

  14. He who not wearith the blue and green, receiveth the 12th man salute. Until’ith retired or washed up’ish.

  15. Boye. Russ..
    Russ .. Boye…
Get to know him well Russell he’ll be by shortly to welcome you to Seattle.

  16. I hope Russ knows he is a ring of honor candidate in our hearts but when that whistle blows I root to beat the Broncos.

  17. Skilled qb, no controversies, student of the game, contributed to the community.

Having said that, I wouldn’t believe him if he said the sky was blue.

  18. King shit.

I love my dude, but I hope he eats shit tomorrow night & for this season for our draft needs etc.

The closer we get to MNF the more complicated my emotions are going to get. Right now I’m so fucking grateful for having Russ’ good years as a young mobile play-maker. I hope he succeeds in Denver, just not Monday or until ’23.

    Go Hawks!

  19. I’ve been saying it for years. This dude only shows us what he wants us to see. It’s not the real him its all an act. Sure it was great winning with him. He was surrounded by great players but yeah we won some games for sure.

  20. He was such a playmaker in the last decade. The last couple years, eh not so much.

I hope we roflstomp him and the broncos tomorrow.

  21. On a post yesterday about him practicing high fives out of the tunnel to invisible people, someone commented “really good football player, really weird guy.”

To which someone posted: “The Tom Cruise of the NFL”

And I laughed and related with it.

There’s something about his public presence that triggers an uncanny valley reaction as far as his personality goes.

His saving grace is that It is well known his work visiting dying children in hospitals and being a pretty good role model to younger kids.

But all of the weird antics (*Broncos Country Let’s Ride, practicing plays by himself in front of the camera when he was injured, this high fiving practice video*) on top of his backhanded handling of his situation in the latter years in Seattle make me wonder if he’s done EVERYTHING including the good that he’s done to just boost his public perception and brand.

That being said, for the time and place in history and the seemingly constant controversy surrounding NFL players, he was exactly what we needed at the helm. Anyone could say anything about our team but the worst they could say is that our QB was weird.

Thanks for the ride to the promised land Russ, I wish you well but I’m still rooting against you for the foreseeable future.
