Based on regular season stats shouldn’t Mitch Marner be the best player at Right Wing in the Atlantic Division instead of Kucherov? Last season Marner had 97 points in 72 games played, where as Kucherov had 69 ponts in 47 games played.

  1. I love Marner but Kucherov has a history of playoff success and that counts for something.

Edit: Whoops, apparently the massive words “FANTASY DRAFT” didn’t tip me off that this is for fantasy drafting purposes.

  2. If you’re looking at it from a Fantasy perspective, then you could say that Mitch is more durable and reliable than Kucherov. Who has been a bit injury prone last couple of year.

But from a Non-Fantasy perspective, Kucherov is the better player.

  3. If you’re basing your argument on points, Kucherov was better on a per game basis. It’s right there in your title. He also has Marner beat in goals per game.

  4. Massive Marner fan here, so this is objectively speaking.

    “Based on regular season stats”:

Even though he only played 47 games last year, Kucherov was 2nd in the league with 1.47 points/game. He also recorded more goals/game than Mitch. In his 4 “full” seasons prior to that (where Kucherov actually played more collective games than Marner), Kucherov’s point totals were: 85, 100, 128, 85. He’s not far removed from being a two-time First Team All-Star, a two-time Second-Team All-Star, or an Art Ross, Ted Lindsay, and Hart Trophy winner. And since this is regular season fantasy, that’s not to mention any of his unreal post-season stats.

You can certainly argue that Marner could record more goals, assists and/or overall points than Kucherov this year (or certainly in the very near future), but the history and, therefore, the smart money is on Kucherov.

Obligatory fuck Tampa tho bc our boy’s gonna win the Art Ross soon enough (probably around the same time that Bunting eventually wins the Calder).

  5. I’d take Marner just for the durability, wouldn’t be surprised if Kuch had a better ppg next season, but I would be surprised if he played more games

  6. Kucherov is definitely the better player as of now but I’d probably still take Marner in the regular season because Kucherov tends to be injured most of the time (before absolutely blowing it up in the playoffs). I still think there’s time for Marner to surpass him but it hasn’t happened yet.

  7. Kucherov is a better player than Marner. This is just a fact lmao. But Marner could end up ahead of Kucherov this year since he has gotten better each year. We should wait and see.

  8. Isn’t Stamkos a C though? In which case Matthew Tkachuk should be for LW. I know Stammer plays a lot of wing but he’s still considered a C

  9. Anyone who has had Kuch the last few years will probably steer clear of him. I refuse to go back. He’s incredible but he’s hurt me too many times (and himself for that matter) and cost me money in fantasy lol

  10. If it was guaranteed that they both play 82 games, Kucherov is the better pick.

He’s missed a lot of time though. I wouldn’t pick him in a draft. Too much risk. There would likely be many other players available with roughly the same offensive totals but with less risk – ie Marner.
