  1. I’m not saying I’m a mathematician or anything but if I remember correctly and if my maths is right we’ve scored 5 runs in the last 4(?) home games. Not great bob, not great.

Something’s gotta turn in our favor at some point? Right?

  2. 4 straight losses at home and 2 straight series losses to the Nationals and Cubs in a tight race. Come on guys lets hear ou defend this BS. I don’t care if this team wins 100(that’s not even a guarantee anymore FFS) this team the last 11 games is a embarrassment and a joke. Braves should be shot if they don’t finish with a better record than these clowns. So freaking predictable this team is. I bet they score 15 tomorrow and make you think they snap out of it then get shut out a day after.

  3. I cannot believe this team won 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers less than 2 weeks ago, the offense is horrendous

  4. So happy we called up Mark Vientos only to use him sporadically against LHP and suddenly expect him to come through with the game on the line with his 6 career at bats. I get it he K’s *a lot* but cmon give him regular at bats over ruff or Vogey

  5. > turn on Giants game

    > announcers immediately bring up the Mets loss and the absurdity of deGrom K-ing 10 while we lose to the Cubs

    sigh.

  6. I can’t believe that the giants broadcast gets rated higher than GKR most of the time. I’ve almost been tempted to switch to the braves broadcast it’s been that boring the last two nights.

  7. I can’t believe I’m using the word putrid two days on a row. Forget Vogel, Ruf and Naquin. McHits is the only guy doing anything.

  8. Silver lining, Escobar made the last out not Ruf when Buck, for some unknown reason, to PH for him. I definitely would’ve gone nuclear on Buck for that one.

  9. Our trolls’ obsession with Pete this season in a nutshell:

Pete has a bad at bat: “DFA HIM!”

Pete has a good at bat: “IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER!”

Pete hits a home run: “IT’S MEANINGLESS!”

Pete has a seven game hitting streak: “HE WAS BAD FOR A WEEK BEFORE THAT!”

Pete doesn’t speak up to a pitcher: “GROW A PAIR!”

Pete speaks up to a pitcher: “THAT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!”

Pete doesn’t give an interview: “WHY ISNT HE BEING A LEADER?”

Pete gives an interview: “WHY IS HE TRYING TO BE CAPTAIN?!”

Pete eats a burger: “WORK OUT!”

Pete works out: “LMAO WHAT A WEIRDO!”

  10. This team just won’t win until the braves do, will they? No need for insurance games, they don’t want the division anyway.
    *sigh*
    lgm.

  11. This shit sucks. I hate rooting for another team to lose instead of my team to win. All I can hope is that we’re getting all this awful baseball out of our system now and can get hot come playoff time. Ya gotta believe

  12. I know he doesn’t exactly have positional versatility, but Dom deserves another chance. He’s doing well in Syracuse. Certainly over Vogey/Ruf/Naquin.

  13. Mets suck ass rn, looking soft like they have a million times before but it’s still funny to watch everyone go “deGrom is leaving and I don’t blame him”. Maybe hard to believe but unless he’s going to the Dodgers or the Astros it’s not getting much better than what he’s got here lol

  14. *Coach Donnie Stevenson walks in and kicks a stool*

    “Are any of you virgins?”

    *Nimmo raises his hand*

    “Aren’t you married?”

    *Nimmo smiles and nods*

“You never had sex with your wife?”

*Nimmo turns red and runs out of the room*

  15. I think that once we break through to 90 wins, we’ll find our momentum again. The hitters are clearly pressing to reach that milestone.

  16. I can’t wait for some Twitter journalist to cherry pick some obscure stat framed in a random time frame to explain how these losses aren’t actually bad and we’re the irrational dummies.

  17. When Gary says you are not helping yourself, you know that the Mets are doing something very wrong. What exactly is causing or has caused the offensive woes is hard to pinpoint, but I think I saw a few things that summarize the struggles.

    1. Too much hit or out results. Either we get singles, or we get out with nothing more than that. Not enough walks to drive up pitch counts or accumulate base runners, no hard contact to go for XBHs or sac flys, etc. Way too many cases of just getting to first base at best with nothing after that right now.
    2. Weak contact. Pretty self-explanatory. If you can’t hit the ball hard, you give the defense easy plays and let the pitcher just keep doing his thing without any opposition or intimidation.
    3. Too much indecision (late swings). In the past 2 games, I saw the Mets swing through a lot of pitches that were down the middle or were at least in locations that were hittable. If I had to take a wild guess, this suggests a lot of doubt and indecision regarding when to swing and when to take.
    4. Too much chasing. Self-explanatory. Too many bad ABs due to poor swings and bad approaches.

Overall, the fact that the entire team (except Escobar and McCann essentially) is struggling at the same time makes things worse than they actually should be. Lindor and Pete have to be the 2 guys we can always count on, but Lindor doesn’t seem to be consistent enough at the plate, and you could say the same for Pete. Lindor can be a good all-around bat at his best, but he’s not a true #1 (overall bat, not place in the batting order) bat on a team IMO. Pete can be a really good power guy who can show the ability to hit in the .270s or .280s, but he struggles with long slumps and poor ability to let breaking pitches go. Pete can probably be a really good #2 or #3 overall hitter on a competing team, but he has too many flaws in his game at the plate right now to be a true #1.

If those 2 guys were struggling, it’d be less than ideal, but the fact that those 2 guys are struggling along with everyone else turns a less than ideal situation into a terrible one. We will still have the division lead after tonight, but this was yet another missed opportunity. The pitching cannot do everything itself. I don’t know what they do to get back on track, but a good place to start might be getting back to being smarter at the plate.

  18. The leaders in the Mets clubhouse need to start holding one another accountable and that starts with Alonso putting the onus on himself and accepting a spot lower in the order and Vogelbach and Ruf being forced out.

DH Vientos or have him in left field or first base everyday while moving Alonso to DH or send him back to Syracuse so he can play and develop.

Plus, the team has to bring Smith back up.

Vogelbach has looked worse the past month than Dom has at any point this season AND he can’t run and is an automatic double play when he comes up to bat with a runner on first.

The players have to start policing themselves because things don’t change unless they do.

  19. It’s amazing how the Cubs struck out 16 times to the Mets 4 and the Mets still by far looked like the more abysmal offense

This is a team that straight up does not hit the ball hard. It hasn’t hurt us most of the year but all of our good luck has evaporated in September
