Rangers D Lundkvist wants trade, won’t report to camp – possible buy-low option?

I’m not super high on Lundkvist but he’s one of those projects that might work out if given a chance. The Rangers are probably going to take a bath on this trade given that he’s now a holdout from camp. I wonder if there’s any room for discussion here?

I’d take a chance on him if the price is low enough. Wouldn’t do Rathbone for him straight up but maybe another prospect we can afford to loose.
Not really the right fit, and I’m not sure he’d get a significantly larger opportunity with us.
Saw this and figured we simply have to make an offer of some sort. We’ve got a great opportunity here for exactly this type of player – young rhd that doesn’t command a lot of investment. Makes sense to me, but what do I know?

Remember at the TDL Rangers fans all thought he’d be the centerpiece of a JT Miller trade?
15 points in 34 AHL games, and he’s only 10 months younger than Rathbone – I would not give up a lot.
Genuinely curious what the rumor leak to trade proposal post time is for different NHL Team Subreddits. Feel like r/Canucks is easily top 3.

Doesn’t he just not have a contract? He’s not holding out if that’s the case. Otherwise I could declare I am also holding out from Canucks camp.
Given that the last offer we got involving him was asking for Miller, what exactly do you think we’re planning on offering for him?
If he’s not reporting I’d say a 4th and call it a day. Why offer actual value for someone they need to move.
Dipietro and a 4th for lundquist and a 6th?
He’s not a great fit stylistically and the Rangers ask is still too high. I’d pass unless we acquire him for pennies on the dollar
Give them Michael Ferland for him 1 for 1
Why do all these rangers prospects not ending up likin it
I don’t really know that we are a good fit for him. He’s basically demanding he go somewhere that has space for him, and I’m not sure that’s us. He’s a PP specialist that doesn’t PK and isn’t going to unseat OEL or Hughes for PP time. Basically a right handed Rathbone but with more league experience. We could make him work but it would almost certainly box Rathbone out of the lineup indefinitely, so he might as well be part of the trade.

This kid got talent but coming from smalltown Luleå to New York just did not work for him. Give him a new chance

If Rangers didn’t dump Kravtsov, they ain’t dumping Lundqvist.
