[Stein] Well. Habs elect not to play Juraj Slafkovsky tonight against Devils. So no Simon Nemec-Slafkovsky matchup. No 1-2 matchup.

  1. I think it’s a good thing, the guy was fun to watch but made mistakes that could have hurt him.

Those games are entertaining but a free for all coaching wise.

I’d rather wait a week or two and see him properly coached with a real structure at camp than another pointless game where he can hurt himself by trying to deke 5 guys with his head down….

But besides the few mistakes.. him and Mesar together …. WOW ! Plus, i discovered Beck yesterday and i fell immediatly in love.

  2. We’ll probably see this matchup in a week anyways since the Devils are our first preseason game

  3. He looked good but it was obvious that a lot of Buffalo guys were taking runs at him to try to prove a point and standout. If he got hurt by some ahl goon for no good reason in a pre pre season game that would be tragic.

  4. Don’t the habs have to make a bunch of cuts before the pre-season games start? Slafkovsky is a lock to play in the pre-season, so right now they need to see other rookies play as much as possible, which is probably the reason for sitting Slaf. I don’t think it’s a reflection on his performance last night.

  5. Good.

This needs to be a wakeup call to Gorton and Hughes.

The club’s roster is missing major pieces like an entire 4th line. We absolutely need to have Pezz, a heavy and another energy type center to make sure these kids are protected.

Jake’s already been seriously hurt. We don’t need targets on the back of CC and Juraj too.
