In the last 132 years, the Giants have never lost 15 games to the Dodgers in a season, until now

Edit: minor good news.

I got my stat from Dave Flemming on KNBR during the game but should not have trusted him, the Dodgers did win 15 games in 1932, which was the first year they changed their name to Dodgers. The “Robins” (their previous name) did also win 15 games in 1916 and 1920.

So it has happened, but not since 1932. A little better than 1890 but still not good.

  1. The part I hate the most is we just gave them a hard fought game the can feed off of until there games matter again. But fuck, this sucks.

  2. I must begrudgingly tip my hat to the Dodgers who have thoroughly dominated the division and the National League. They are now 57 games over .500.

  3. Watching the 2022 Giants is like watching a beloved relative die.

I can’t prove it, but I just know that somehow they also broke Trey’s ankle.

  4. Last season, the Dodgers had set a franchise record for wins, and still lost the division to us. And we were fielding spare parts and old tires.

So I feel like this season was the karmic adjustment for that.

    Next year boys. Next year.

  5. Well hey, at least we won’t ever do this again. Since we’re gonna be playing divisional opponents less often now with the new scheduling format

  6. We took Fahran from them, but we couldn’t take the scouting and development department which makes the dodgers who they are. I hate them but they seem to trade their top minor league players and still trot out a top 5 farm system every single year.

  7. The Dodgers run differential is top 6 all time. Their payroll is over $100 million more. They literally paid for a better team.

  8. Giants need to stop being cheap and build the roster up. What the logical excuse that Padres are spending more money than the Giants? Im not saying get some Dodgers or Yankees salary but at least be top 5 in the MLB. The fans are backing the team

  9. I don’t remember off the top of my head but the stats Jon Miller pointed out after the game were kinda depressing. 5 runs, 13 hits in 3 games?

  10. While true, it seems a little arbitrary to use totals, versus pct, to prove this point. They didn’t even play 19 games against each other between 1963 and 2000. 4-15 is a .211 pct. The 1996 Giants went 2-11 (.154) against the Padres. Even the 1985 Giants didn’t even perform that badly against any 1 team.

  11. The game was an emotional roller coaster. I actually flew in for that mess. Walking in the winning run is a very 2022 Giants-y way to lose. Wade Jr., Ramos and Yaz all look completely lost at the plate. Feel like automatic outs at this point. Some nice plays in the field, some really crafty pitching by Cobb, Doval looked dominant. Other than that; not a lot to cheer about. A few well timed base knocks, but mostly frustration for the orange and black. As has been the hallmark for 2022.

Disgusting how many Dodger fans were at Oracle. Never seen the likes of it.

  12. This is, in a sense, a way of saying that this is the single worst Giants roster of all time. If it’s not, it’s close.

  13. I posted something earlier this year on bleacher report about how this year the giants have been terrible against the dodgers and some dude tried to argue that they were not and that I was pulling shit out my ass.

Well I hope he’s on Giants reddit page. Sucks to see but we always have next year
