  1. Wright is one win away from 20. Not completely sharp but still effective to give us six innings and just two runs allowed. That’s always a good game. Olson got two hits. We got some bombs from Riley and Rosario (just in time for the playoffs for him!) and we got some good ABC baseball from Harris and Contreras with Harris stealing and getting to third and Contreras hitting the sac fly. We also saw an effective Kenley again. His cutter had the movement again, so if that’s coming back, I do think he can be great for us when we need him. Chavez and Iglesias were awesome out of the pen again as well. And for what it’s worth, I finished my beer right as the game ended, so my last sips were happy ones in celebration! Solid win tonight! Go Braves!

  2. Gonna repeat in this thread, I wish Jansen had as many defenders as Olson had in this thread. One could argue Matty has had more data points for inconsistency than Jansen has going 6-70.

  3. Must suck to be a Nats fan, your team wins the World Series a couple years ago and now your’e the worst team in the league. Talk about falling off a cliff.

  4. Nice quiet win. Not much drama in the end but it’s good when Braves beat teams that they are favoured to win.

  5. Also, I’ve found that I really enjoy the Monday night games. When I just need to unwind after a Monday workday, it’s so great to have to Braves baseball to give me some entertainment. I don’t have to sit all depressed because it’s Monday. There’s actually something to look forward to when they play on Mondays. And tonight we won so it’s a happy Monday with that! Go Braves!

  6. I just got my first Reddit cares lololol I wonder if that Mets fan hanging in here understands how happy it makes me that they are that upset and sending out Reddit cares

  7. As fun as it is to clown on the Mets, that series can’t get here soon enough, going to be a playoff atmosphere

  8. We may have beaten the Nationals with a big Thicc dong, Big Dick d’Arnaud and Money Mike 💰 driving in runs, a Steady Eddie blast 💥, 2 Mad Matt slump breaking hits, and 6 innings of the 🚀Wright Stuff🚀 to record win #19 and get this series started right

    But we are still CHAMPIONS

  9. I’m so happy for Matt. The poor guy needed a hit in the worst way and he got two – and both were pretty solid contact, no bloop nonsense. Kenley looked great again.

I’m trying to make sense of Wright’s performance and struggling a bit. On one hand, a 7-1 K-BB ratio over 6 innings is very nice, as are two earned runs. On the other, he gave up a lot of hard contact (the Nats’ xBA was right around .300 when he left the game) and the Nats lineup shouldn’t be much of a challenge. I think I’ll file it as a solid ‘B’. I’d also like to see Wright and Strider pitching exclusively on five days’ rest from here till the playoffs; I don’t want either of those guys wearing down any more than we have to.

Snit had two gambits today that both paid off – first, sending Wright out for the sixth (I know a lot of people don’t see that as even a decision at 65 pitches, but with how shaky he had been the previous inning and the need to save innings on the young arms, I thought it was still risky), and second, using Chavez in the seventh, though maybe his hand was largely forced there (McHugh and Minter had both pitched twice in three days). I didn’t like either decision when it happened, so it’s only fair that I note that they both worked out.

My hope is that we see Fried pushed from this series to the Philly series and we see Elder get a start on Wednesday.

  10. Nice win all around! Kyle wasn’t top notch but got through it. Great bullpen outings, including a no funny business 9th from Kenley. Matty (hopefully) kicking in to gear at the plate, and Super Rosario with the insurance run late.

Lots to be happy about tonight! Rooting for Charlie to have a great outing tomorrow!

  11. JFC u/CybeastID or one of the other mods over at the Met sub needs to get a goddamn grip on their members harrassing this sub with Reddit Cares messages – I’ve never seen so many posts in one GDT from people getting them.

  12. Mets still cant gain any ground on us even with Scherzer throwing perfect and beating up the Brewers. NL East runs through Atlanta

  13. Really great to see movement back on Kenley’s cutter. The ball was really darting tonight. Hopefully he can string a few more zeros together down the stretch.

  14. I got a Reddit cares message for saying it was the three Marlins fans sending the cares message. Man they are sensitive

  15. Protip: Block the Reddit Cares account. The abuse of the feature far outweighs any good intentions it was implemented with.

  16. The Mets, they have acheived their 10th post season and first since 2016. What an achievement. 🤥

Edit: lolmets fans are super easy to bait. Glad to join the cool kids with my first reddit cares!

  17. Braves are feeling confident right now. Mets should take their remaining sked seriously, or they go to Wildcard…

  18. I almost wish there wasnt a wildcard. Imagine the intensity going into that last home series!

I dont know how the rotation ends up but I’d love to see Max v Max again ^^and ^^no ^^odorizzi

  19. Definite good things brewing right now- Rosario heating up, Olsen got going tonight, Kenley looking appropriately angry with good movement on pitches, and of course Ronald has at last joined the party. I truly believe these Braves can repeat. This is a better team on paper than last years… much deeper everywhere. All about execution now. Chop On!

  20. Missed the back third of the game, but happy to hear kenley shoved. He makes me nervous, but he is Kenley Fucking Jansen so LETS GO BRAVES

  21. Kind of funny how it happens that either the Mets win and basically get us closer to a playoff clinch or they lose and get us closer to the division this series.

  22. Anyone else catch Grissom and Acuna yelling at each other about that caught pop? I can’t really figure out who was in the wrong there

  23. It feels like it’s been a tale of two seasons for Matt Olson. He’s batting 1.000 in at-bats that he records a hit. In at-bats without a hit, it’s a different story. Still one of my favorite players. Super stoked to see what he does with a full off-season to be in ATL

(Jokes aside point is he’s been very streaky this year, but it’s kinda to be expected the first year in a new team, and his stats are still very impressive)
