  1. I can’t wait to see how he plays against men. He looked dominant against other prospects but he clearly had a size and strength advantage against them. His passes during the rookie showcase reminded me a lot of stuff KK pulled off, but instead of having the stability of a baby deer Slaf can pull off that shit with multiple defenders trying to knock him down.

  2. I think third is a fair placement. I really like this pick because the kid has the right attitude. It’s obvious he wants to learn and improve and he will work hard to reach his goal. I hope he can keep this positivie and optimism regardless of these expectations and what fans and journalists will say about him.

After what I’ve seen in the development camp and the prospect challenge, I’m pretty confident he can play with Suzuki and Caufield. He has the toolkit to complement these guys. Caufield Is such a dangerous scorer that other teams will catch on fast and put their attention on him. his advantage is to make the opponent forget where he is. With slaf taking a lot of attention and deservedly so cause he can make you pay, it will be way easier for Caufield and Suzuki to free themselves and take good shots in the slot.

We took a chance with slaf hoping he will reach his potential but we were also smart enough to recognize we also needed safer players. In Beck , mesar, Heineman (that we got last year) we got very solid prospects who are responsible défensively and don’t make many mistakes. So I can see another defensive line tasked with taking the best line of our adversaries. It would greatly help Caufield sale and suzuki.

Just a parentheses, I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but it feels like we drafted or acquired forwards who are good défensively while at the same time drafted or acquired dmen who are good offensively. I like this idea that our offense can also come from our dmen.

  3. Well, as far as I know, he’s a grinder and he knows what he has to work on. Craig Ramsey (coach of Slovakia national team) said he’s not stubborn, doesn’t complain, works hard and listens to coaches. If his talent is developed properly, he’s going to be top NHL winger, not just a complementary player.
