  1. Could take a while to gel with all of the changes. There won’t be a single defensive pair that’s played together much, if at all. And an entirely new second line.

Not to mention new coaching. But you never know, they could come out of the gate on fire.

My only concerns are the top top end talent, and the goaltending duo is never going to reach Vasilevsky levels of cheat mode.

  2. I know I should not have as high of expectations as I do, but I cannot help it. We arguably improved at every single level. Coaching. Center. Defense. Depth. Goaltending. Our 2 rookies got a lot of experience last year and we have 2-3 fantastic rookies who sound like they’re going to really push for roster spots right out of camp.

If Vrana stays healthy, Raymond takes a step forward, and Larkin and Bert keep doing their thing, our top 6 looks awesome.

If Perron, Kubalik, and Suter can gel that’ll be a wicked 3rd pairing with an amazing veteran to lead 2 young guys.

If Seider keeps being a power house, Edvinsson can give us a shot in the arm, and if Chiarot and Hronek can gel our defensive depth will look much stronger and more physical.

And goaltending. Am I the only one who things Ned and Husso have a shot at being one of the best tandems in the league? Both young and hungry goalies. Teams were fighting for scraps in the offseason and tons of teams have major questions marks at this position and I’m not even worried. Both have shown how solid they can be and if that defense improves Ned will look good and Husso and him will battle it out all year for 1a/1b.

Plus, ya know, Lalonde has only been part of the most successful team (an Yzerman team to boot) for the past half decade.
