  1. Kyle dubas strategy this year is just to cover his eyes and cross his fingers šŸ™ˆšŸ¤žšŸ». Interesting way to go out really.

  2. Thereā€™s a lot of mouth breathers who really think that our front office is doing a terrible job. If it was up to them weā€™d turn ourselves into the current flyers

  3. This is the right thing to do. Heā€™s not fired but he should continue to showcase why he deserves to be extended. Thereā€™s no obvious reason why he deserves that yet.

  4. At first glance I donā€™t really get this given that itā€™s tough to have a lame duck GM.

That said, I often forget that these contracts are real money to the people involved. The fact that he doesnā€™t have an extension in place (much like Sweeney and Wadell last season) is as much about negotiating compensation/term/benefits based on the seasons outcome as it about deciding whether or not heā€™ll stick around.

  5. Hard to believe it’s been five years. I like the guy as GM, I think he makes good moves that make sense, and I leave a lot of the blame for our lack of success at the feet of our players (not to mention random chance and hot goalies). I think there’s a lot of value in stability with management, but I have to admit that ownership must be considering a regime change if we don’t see success at some point. There can be no doubting that Dubas and Shanny are on the hot seat, whether it’s deserved or not is beside *that* point.

  6. So damn unfair how he never got a fair shot. 2 of those seasons were pandemic seasons with a flat cap that no one could’ve seen. He’s the best GM we’ve had in like 25+ years.

  7. I can understand the process but I don’t know if I’m ready to let Dubie go yet. I wonder if it’s part of a plan to get the players to dig deeper. Like Kyle has been so loyal to this core, and he wants to win badly, that maybe the organization hopes the players will respond in kind. They owe Dubas their best shot. He hasn’t once given up on either of them. Either way, I wish him the best. I still like the guy.

  8. I donā€™t follow what the head office does to closely but looking at the team before Dubas and now, I think hes doing something right

  9. Would there really have been a negative to giving Dubas a 1 year extension to keep him from being a lame duck GM?

It’s pretty rare to have a GM run a team without an extension in place and regardless of what he says, if the media wants it to be a distraction it will. Even if you want to fire him at the end of the season, the extra money from the extension wouldn’t be significant to MLSE anyways.
