Great game lots of fun!
Was at the game. They had KJ playing 1C with Laine and Johnny. He did ok. Watching Johnny is just pretty. He dances up the ice and is amazing to watch and distribute the puck. Danforth did great tonight. Nice redirect for the first goal and a PPG. Laine’s was basically an empty netter the goalie was so out of position from a great pass. Enjoyed it a lot.
Glad I got to be at Johnny’s first ever game as a Jacket (even if it was preseason) it was so fun to watch, and it’s always good to beat the Pens
Edit: speaking of Johnny he got robbed of 2nd star. Jake played great, but Johnny had more points, and was insane all night, he almost dangled through four guys several times, and did dangle through three once or twice, it was so awesome to see a player with that crazy amount of skill on this team. Panarin was great, but this was an entirely different level of puck control.
At the game, we’re going to be hearing “goal from Laine with the assist from Gaudreau” a LOT this year, they’re chemistry is already visible. When we put Voracek out with them on the PP it was like watching a 3 man weave drill in basketball, poetry in motion.
That pass from Peeke to Laine through the middle of the ice was a thing of beauty.
Dude, who knew all we needed on the PP was Danforth, that’s got to be such a trip for him, playing on a PP1 with Laine, Voracek and Johnny Hockey
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned yet is how good Elvis looked. He looked as calm as I’d ever seen him, and was swallowing everything up. No crazy rebounds. Hoping he can keep that presence up all season.
