When asked about his defense, Joc responds ““I feel like … I don’t know,” he said. “It is what it is, you know?” – Andy Baggarly in The Athletic

More quotes:

“Asked about improving his defense, Pederson cited the difficult home environment and the wind patterns in San Francisco but said, “I could be better. We’ve continuously worked on it this year.”

“I feel good,” he said. “I’ve been basically healthy all year. I mean, I don’t know. I guess I haven’t graded out well enough (defensively).”

  1. what confuses me about Joc is that for a LH power hitter, he passes the “eye test” for me in left field at oracle park… however, when I took a look at his advanced fielding stats, it shows he has been atrocious for us this year lol. it is by far his WORST defensive fielding season of his career. -8.7uzr! damn.

  2. Hey Joc, I can help you out with this. The word you’re looking for is bad. Your defense has been real bad

  3. He’s as good as gone it seems. I wouldn’t mind having his energy and everything but the whole convo he had here doesn’t make it seem like he’s swayed about coming back. More like a bucket list item has been checked off now that he’s played for the Giants and it’s time to move on.

  4. I see myself in this pasta.

When asked about his documentation, Travis responds “I feel like, … I don’t know.”, he said. It is what it is, you know?”

  5. I believe this is Joc’s first season of his career NOT going to the playoffs; there will definitely be some very good teams interested in Joc (as DH) given his offensive value this year.

  6. Kind of a misleading way to integrate the title quote. It seems like Baggs asked him about conditioning to improve his defense. Joc isn’t gonna drop 40 pounds to become a slightly better outfielder. He’s a power hitter. Sounds to me like he’s expressing frustration that he’s worked on it and he’s not seeing the results yet. Crucifying one corner outfielder for an entire team’s defensive deficiencies ain’t it IMO.
